Pete Jackson timing gears
Any of you guys have any information or experience with the timing gears in place of timing chains?
Thanks Jason |
I put a set on my car once (noisy as HELL) but they make a semi quiet set now I think. And they use a bit more HP to turn I was told. In fact you might have heard me ripping through Hatboro a few nights back in 1990 :D
|
i once heard they cause a lot of harmonic vibration (???) and unneccesary heat. not first hand knowledge just what ive heard. personnally ive never had a problem with Cloyes timing chains.

You have to be careful and use a torrington bearing behind the cam gear or it will eat the front of the block. I switched back to a good double roller chain.
|
stick with the chain. All I have used is a good CLOYES Chain.

Well I have the double roller timing chains now but I was wondering how much whine can I get out of those gears, I see they are "machined for noise"
I like the blower type whines you get in the mid and upper range and I thought these might be a good way to add some drama to the engines is all Basically nothing more than gear whine like a blower or a whiny PS pump would give you is all So there are issues with these huh? well we all know I DONT WANT ANYMORE ISSUES I dont think I can handle anymore issues to be honest with you all! LOL Thanks guys Happy boating Jason |
Stick with the chain or a Jesel belt drive.
whiney gear drives are for old school street rods with cherry bombs and flames flying out the exhaust.:D |
Just start dating some B.I.T.C.H and treat her like chit, she will whine all you want and more.
