Subject: Comments on LongHorn Restaurant

RARE Hospitality International, Inc./Attn: Philip Hickey, Jr, Chairman, CEO
8215 Roswell Road, Building 600, Atlanta, GA 30350
Mr. Hickey:
I had lunch minutes ago at your LongHorn restaurant in Manchester, NH not far from where I work. I actually eat lunch and dinners at your restaurants either in Manchester or Concord, NH about four to six times a week. This averages out to approximately $100.00 a week for those two franchises roughly $5,000.00 worth of business a year, just counting me not anyone I bring. I realize this isn’t much of your $585 Million in sales. However during lunch today I heard a song playing performed by the “Dixie Chicks” and their lead singer Natalie Maines on the sound system. Ms. Maines had some pretty unpatriotic views she choose to voice at a recent concert in London England a few weeks back. I was informed by the staff that the music is issued monthly on “CD’s” and they rightfully for these kinds of establishments do not have a choice in what is included on those “CD’s”. I enjoy the fact that some teenage waitress does not choose some bang your head on the wall music and commend you on your corporate practices.
All this to mention that if I hear another song from the “Dixie Chicks” or Ms. Maines in any of your restaurants I will choose to take my patronage somewhere else for all my business. I would also appreciate to hear your intentions regarding this matter.
Thank you,
G.L. Harvie

Dear G.L.,

Thank you for your loyalty to Longhorn, and thank you for sharing with us your thoughts about the music we play.

I have asked Dave George, the person who is in charge of all Longhorn Steakhouse restaurants, to contact you personally regarding this matter in the immediate future.

Best regards,

Phil Hickey

Hello Mr. Harvie,
My name is Nina Pelissier and I work for Dave George, Sr. Vice President of
Operations for LongHorn Steakhouse. Mr. George is traveling today and
tomorrow and does not have access to his email system at this time. He
would like to speak with you personally regarding your concerns about our

Then yesterday Mr. Dave George, Sr. VP of Operations for LongHorn Steakhouse left a message on my Cell assuring me that I will never hear another Dixie Chicks song in a LongHorn again. He did mention that he will be calling me back to discuss this live and left a phone numer.

Nice to exercise our freedom of speach like Ms. Maines did!!!

G.L.

GLH,

I am impressed with you and the action of Long Horn! Now if we can do something about that &%*t Madonna. In my own little protest, I took a group to South Beach and they wanted to go to Delno, Madonnas bar/Hotel, I refused and we all went to Mint and Slims instead. Not much but it made me feel better.

Way to go Longhorn! I am impressed, most time when you have a complaint they just brush you under the carpet. After they piss of so many people they go out of business. Then they wonder what went wrong.

Default Why I'm glad to NOT live in Madison Wisconsin

Check out this article from the AP. I can't believe this would be brought up at a city council meeting. I would be pissed if I live there.

>>>>>>>>>
MADISON, Wis. -- The Dixie Chicks might not be welcome in some parts of the country, but a Wisconsin politician wants the country music trio to know they have a home in Madison.

Alderman Ken Golden this week proposed a resolution that calls for the City Council to play a Dixie Chicks CD during meeting breaks and directs the mayor to present the Chicks with keys to the city, French wine and a suitable welcome should they ever visit.

The Dixie Chicks became the target of boycotts and bans after lead singer Natalie Maines made critical comments about President Bush last month in London, including a remark that ``we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.''

Maines later apologized, but some radio stations have banned the Texas group's music and some people have destroyed the band's CDs.

Golden's resolution is co-sponsored by 10 of 20 council members.

The resolution also says the Chicks can become the city's adopted country music group and encourages the band to change their name to the ``Heartland Chicks'' or ``Dairyland Chicks.''

The council will consider the resolution next week.
