Default Eliminator 28 Daytona Insurance Costs

I'm in the market for a 28 Daytona and I called my insurance agent just to get an idea of how different my insurance costs would be. For a 28 Daytona with twin 525 EFI's, clean driving record, no claims, they assume 100mph boat, 100/300 liability and normal deductibles, $7000.00! Obviously she isn't competitive, are there any cat owners out there with a similar boat that can tell me what I might end up paying for insurance. I'm in Miami and boat year round.

Thanks
Paul

I insure my 28 Daytona with WorldWide Marine for a lot less. I have more hp, but have a 5 month lay up. Give them a call if you haven't already.

Give Buzz are Ken a call at PMA[ performance marine] they are in Florida #is1888-FAST- INS . They are one of the few that cover cats, they are a lot more than V hulls, a lay up period helps out on the note also

You can look at insurance going up approx 20% a year for awhile
But World Wide Marine has always got the better price for me and the 33 ft Eliminator Daytona
So, if you really want the 28 ft model..............keep shopping
I don't have SY's number and haven't seen him on the board lately, but I understand he was taking on "cat" insurance..........which is hard to find (cat insurance) in many cases

Thanks for the responses, but I was looking for actual dollar amount people are paying on 100 mph boats. If its going to be more than $3500 a year I'm going to consider different boats. I pay $750 a year now for 65mph 22 ft Donzi, but once you get into a cat and near 100 mph things are a lot different.

I wanted a 28 daytona, found one that had twin 496's in it, a sweet ride, a lot of them are low profile, and I wanted the one with the higher freeboard and small cabin in it, my quote was 4300 a year, so I bought a v hull, twin big blocks no lay up for 1700 a year, good luck

I pay 3200.00 a year..............different brokers have different prices. They ask questions like who are the drivers, drivers age and any violations in the past 3 years and others in that line.
