Excursion towing
 

Got a chance to get 2000 "X" Limited PSD. Looks absolutely factory new.
What do you guys tow and how do they do? I have about 8000lbs to drag:(
Price isn't bad , but 76000 miles on speedo. Really a little more than I wanted but like I said it's like new. Also no signs of having been painted:rolleyes:

Gave my first ride to our new 2002 Ex/V-10 with the Cafe racer in tow with all the families gear and the trailer I'd say easy 11k# avg 9mpg it pulled like a freakn dream.

You'll love it! You should get 15 mpg around town and towning, and 19 highway. I haven't towed my boat yet, butr I have towed a 15,000 lb fertalizer cart. Top speed for the cart is 35 mph. But my F350 w/ PSD didn't even break a sweat.

Towing 8,000lbs you will barely know it is there. The only problem with the excursion is they need air suspension to sit level while towing (Chevy needs air bags as well and, hey, Dodge doesn't even have a vehicle in this class). Add the air bags and you will love it. Nothing better on the market for towing that has the interior as well.:D :D :D

It's a joy to pull with, and I tow about 10,500 lbs. In addition to airbags, you'll need decent aftermarket shocks, better front springs than stock, and consider a rear anti-sway bar. Buck183 here on OSO can get you a sway bar. Go to "thedeiselstop.com" for lots of good info on PSD's. there is a section just for escursions.

Thanks guys , my main concern was the shorter wheel base than even an x-cab pu. I know my Tahoe tends to get blown around quite a bit by anything bigger than itself. I went to N.H. last summer (400 miles each way) and believe me I was white knuckled most of the way.

You will keep looking back to make sure it's still there.

I tow our 35 fountain behind an '01 Excursion PSD. By the time you add up the boat, trailer, and additional crap I guess-timate that we're at 11,000 pounds. We tow from NJ to Florida 2X per year and get 9.5 to 10 mpg.

It's a great vehicle. I'd recommend one to a friend without hesitation.
