Will,
GREAT shots-I knew I should have stopped by earlier on Sunday! Thanks for the use of your balcony to watch the race. See you in Marathon. Bob G. |
Bodyshot1 : You know, I have been trying to figure that out too. It seems that guys just appear when the crew breaks out their bikinis! :D :p
|
Nice pics.
|
Hey Bob. I can't wait until Marathon! We have some things to work on and some changes to make to our setup, but we will be there and ready to do it all over again!!
|
Will,
Thanx for posting the pics of the girls and also the TEAM shot with the girls. DPT |
Hey Hot duck
Thanks for the pics. How did u guys do in the race the boat is beautiful. |
Jack L: After all of the smoke cleared I believe that we finished in the middle of the pack. We knew that we were going to be a little off the pace before we even left home. Due to the snow and bad weather, we never got a chance to run the boat before Daytona, so it was still full of fuel at race time. (We filled it up for winter storage) That means that we were carrying around 80 gallons of gas that we did not need. Mother nature was another strike against us. The seas were flat the day of the race and everybody knows that a Cigarette does not run as fast as other boats in flat water. (We were praying for wind) Also, being a typically heavy Cigarette, the weight of our boat will allow us to run the Merc 525s or the Vortec engines, but we had the Merc 500's.
We wanted to run this event to give APBA a try. It had been 3 years since we had run an APBA event, so we wanted to feel out the waters again. I think that we will make some changes to the boat and run the APBA schedule this year. We had a blast in Daytona and are really looking forward to Marathon. |
boat
are you the guy that bought that 45 apache. for $85,000
you got taken . the boat was broken twice. look at the top of the deck near the wind screen it was peaced together their. thats why they turned it into a pleasure boat. an no one used it.for 10 years. jerry Davis broke the once in A.C N.J. . don't run it hard in rough water the cracks will come back. |

Quite the motley looking bunch...
I bet you guys were really upset with all those sweaty but-prints all over your deck and all...
It was great to finally meet you guys in person! You have a great looking boat, (and according to the pics, a HOT looking, errr, crew). Glad you came back to APBA. Hope to see y'all again in Marathon. |
Hey Gordo - I agree. It is great to be able to put a face with the name! Thank you for coming by to say hello and we will certainly hook up again in Marathon. As far as the sweaty butt prints.....that is just a sacrifice that we had to make! :D
p.apache - Yes, I am the one with the 45 Apache and yes, it has been patched at least twice. My experience is that if the work is done correctly, there is no problem with a patch. This 45 is an ex race boat, so I would actually be suspicious if there wasn't any sign of extra glass work. In comparison, my first race boat had rolled over and cracked from the rub rail to the water line a year before I bought it. The crack was fixed and the boat ran the rest of that year. Then I bought it and ran the devil out of it for almost two years. It is now a pleasure boat and still going strong with no problems from the patched area. Something else to keep in mind.....For the money I paid for the Apache I also got two Cobra engines (being completely re-built now), two brand new Huber 1450 transmissions (being installed now) and two #6 drives with props (being reconditioned at Throttle Up now). The way I look at it, with this power package, the hull is basically free. Either way, the patches look OK, the survey came back OK, the boat ran well and Hawk Power gave me a 90 day warranty on the engines. Besides, if I do have problems with the patched areas, it will just give me a chance to fix them correctly this time! Everybody likes a project...right? :D |
Apache
..that's a great way to look at it Willl..and I agree with you, hard to argue with what you got for the $$$....Lotsa Luck with it...:D
..hope we see you guys in Jersey soon...our season starts in a few more weeks.. Marty  |

Bodyshot1 - We are hoping to make a few of the NJ races again this year. Not only are they a lot of fun, but they are close to home!
GLH - That was brutal, but it was pretty damn funny! You know what they say.....What goes around comes around. :D We will have a time to get our shot in sooner or later. :) |
