A freind of my is looking at a 1992 wellcraft nova with a 502 does any one know if it has a mod,deep v hull is this good boat its a 26 ft any awnsers

The 23 nova's were all singles. it took the 26 to get to twins. Not bad boats, but heavy as mentioned earlier.

In the 90's they lightened them up a little. The 90's SCARABS are about 5-6 mph faster than the late 80's of the same length.

The Nova 250XL was the first twin engine sportboat (twin 260 Mercruisers) that I ever rode in. This was back in mid 1970's.

I have a 23nova w single 260, but older (83) and heavier.
All Nova's seem to be a good value for the money.

Ahhhh mcollinstn,your post brings back memories..
My first hi perf offshore ride was in the original NOVA MARINE 24
in very early 70's I think.Had 351W Holman Moodys V Drive inboards.The owner became a bit of a boating legend here.
I will always have fond memories of that boat.The styling was 30 years ahead of its time.

Myself and ragtop409 are both familiar with the 23 Nova. The Nova is not a "heavy" boat by no means. The older Wellcrafts just like any other manufacturer were "heavy" compared to more recent models.

You say it has a 502 but is a 26'. The 26' Nova was only made with twins as far as I know. Are you sure it isn't a 23' and the current owner is calling it a 26'?

More than likely, it is a Scarab. If so, it is pretty fast - but it has virtually no freeboard or cabin space. Not a good rough water boat. Also, it chine walks pretty bad when trimmed and WOT.
