heres the deal, i dont need one right this second, i want to order the car the way i want, and am willing to wait,plus i want to pay invoice, benz dealers make killer holdbacks, ok maybe not invoice but real close especially if its not in stock and i am going to wait

If you know someone who works for Daimler-Chrysler you may be able to get a invoice type price. I get a supplier discount through my wife's employer but Mercedes is excluded. :(

Try some of the MB dealers in cities that have been particularly hard hit by the economic downturn (ie. Atlanta, San Francisco, NYC, etc.). You may be able to work something out there.

I'll wait and get mine in 2 years. I have no need to pay extra to be the "first" guy. It's a LOT cheaper to be the "next" guy.

Really thought I was falling for the new SL500 till I drove it. Lots of cool gizmos and looks, but not much faster than my 99. The SL55, though, is another story. Drove one. Like it. Lots.

As soon as somebody gets tired of one, I'll be interested.

scalptaker is right, they do not produce a lot of the high end cars like that and people are buying and selling them used for more than new!!! we do have a new 2003 S600 with the new twin turbo V12, a little over 500 hp in this baby, the 55's are supercharged with about the same HP, those cars are pulling in the dollars, if you have something in mind let me know, I will see what I can do for you on price
