Biggus's Stuck in South Carolina!!!! Trip from HELL.

If there is anyone in the South Carolina Exit 119 in South Carolina near the Georgia border, Biggus is broken down. He did get off the highway. Two days ago he was trailering a boat down and had a front hub lock up on him. I guess the guy that did his breaks never greased the bearings and they siezed solid. Luckily he was able to break it free and get off the highway. two days 900 bucks, custom machined parts and lots of labor later he was back on the road today and got about 100 miles to find that the other side was about to sieze up also!!!! So now he is stranded this time at a Ford dealer waiting for them to take care of the next side. Anyhow if some one is in the area I am sure he would LOVE to have ya stop by and say hi. Call me on my cell and I will give you his phone number. (978) 985-0639

Damn! That sucks big time...
I'll give you a call for his cell #. I have a set of BMW wheels I need picked up in MD & dropped here in Greenwich. He could make a little cash.

Audiofn 04-24-2003 07:54 AM

Ok DJD that sounds good I know he will need it now!!!!!! :( In true Biggus form he is taking it all in stride! I know that TooOld offered up his truck yesterday to him, quite a offer!!!!

Sounds good Fred. I think that he will have more luck this time as the dealer should have more luck getting parts and this time it did not seize so they should not have so many issues with the parts that he had at the other place. I was just thinking it would be nice for him to get out and have a lunch or something. Sounds like you are way far away from him.

I talked to him yesterday as well. I hope Monroe is having a good time as well:D :D :D

Audiofn 04-24-2003 08:06 AM

TooOld no offense but I am sure that he will never be so glad to get out of a state as he will be to get out of South Carrolina. I may suggest that he go around it on the way home and have you drive out to get your drives :D:D

Lost Trailer Wheel

I lost a wheel (rear of tandem) on a brand new Target trailer on Route 95 in Santee SC. Called "Britt Bros" truck repair, got me going next day, lots of damage when the wheel came off, good price, great service. Not sure how far Biggus is from Santee, but I have the number if you need it.

Audiofn 04-24-2003 08:14 AM

Troutly he asked them to look at the other side. Guess the guy pulled off the cover and said it was greased up. At his next gas stop he was smart enough to feel the covers. I would have him tow anything anywere. Just a bad situation being stuck some place you do not know having to have MAJOR work done.

This was his TRUCK bearings not the trailer.

I was hading North, 7:00 pm, wheel and tire head across Hi way, into the dark. Drag the trailer off the exit, unhok in 7-11 parking lot, find hotel, sleep. Net morning they come, (2) brothers, Dale was the one that pulled the trailer and boat onto the flat bed, at the shop they lift the boat off the trailer, 30 Scarab, sent to Columbia for parts 2 days in a row, replaced a whole lot of parts, they give me a bll that is so low i felt guilty, when I said i thought the bill should be hgher Dale said, "this is my bill, I don't want any more, and I won't take any less" when I got home I sent a check to his Daughters class to buy school play costumes, they were selling chances to fund the costumes for the school play. Geat Guys, like being in a time warp though.

wwwTOPDJcom 04-24-2003 10:29 AM

Trust no one do your own bearing and brake jobs!
I tear down my hubs every year and use a bearing packer
to push fresh Castrol blue high temp grease in,
new hub seal every 2 years they are cheap insurance.

bobby daniels 04-24-2003 10:32 AM

Thanks COOTER

Gizmo 04-24-2003 09:19 PM

Jon, When is kurt making the trip back from the South? Let him know that when he gets back to the Richmind area, I'll buy him dinner and a drink.
That's a crappy feeling, being on the road broke down. Had it happen to my in Jacksonville, Fl. a few years back. I was driving the biggest U-Haul known to man. The right front tire decided it was time to give Jay the ride of his life. The SOB disintegrated and took with it the fender and half of the front bumper. I was stranded on the side of I-95 for over six hours. As if that wasn't bad enough, I had my youngest son with me. He was 9 at the time. Scared the S$*t out of him.

OldSchool 04-25-2003 03:11 PM

I just talked to Kurt and he made it to Miami and all is well:) :)

CESSNA 04-25-2003 03:15 PM

WONDER if them boys had caught up with him ??

MitchStellin 04-25-2003 03:16 PM

Time to change to manual locking hubs.

DJD 04-25-2003 09:32 PM

I didn't call Kurt. The wheels I was supposed to buy for my BMW were sold out from under me today.

Audiofn 04-26-2003 06:01 AM
