Question Avanti Powerboats?

Anyone know anything about the Avanti Powerboats? I was looking at a 1998 33' with twin 500HP's. I was told that they are heavy slow boats old hull design?

If what i told you earlier wasn't enough.....do a seach here and you may find some more info in the previous posts.

Other that the rigging aspects......I don't think they are a slow hull, or necessarily THAT heavy.

I'm not sure if i remember anyone on here having anything bigger than a 27.

I know of the boat you're looking at. A repo from Bucks Co. They're a good handling rough water boat. A friend has the same boat with 500 efi's and Pro Chargers. Does 90, and you can turn it at any speeds, great riding boat. Most of the negative posts you'll read are about the owner of Avanti, not the boats themselves. I've never heard the one about the waves on the hulls, but look at the old Cigarettes, they all had waves. I would check out this boat carefully though as it was a very hostile repo and it is possible the original owner sabatoged it before it was taken. As I said I know this boat pretty well so any questions PM me and I'll be glad to help out.

Funny, if you go to Avanti's home page, click on the 33' models and the first example that pops up is the one listed in Boat Trader. Maybe it was a factory demo?

Not a bad looking boat though.
Kind of looks like a Top Gun. Similar deck lines.

My brother had a '98 Avanti - 24 - with a bandit racing motor about 600hp boat was very unstable - developed lot of stress crack's - hull was similar to 24 Rocket &/or Pantera ect. the 33 Looks sweet - they use McLeod Int & good hardware from what I recall. good luck

Aside from the facts the perseption of Avanti from the people in my circles is so so. If you can get a great deal it may be worth it but you may have to give a great deal if you want to get out of it.
