When is the lake of the ozarks poker run?
I have never been there and would love to go and do that run.
|
I don't think the MO water patrol will allow it.
Saw a sweet asz orange Skater in the 40ish range pass me at the Grand Glaze Bridge today. Man what a beautiful boat! Also saw a nice Cig Mistress I would have sworn was Too Old under the toll bridge but it had a red swim platform. A lot of beak boats cruisin around, a few Baja's and formulas and saw a nice older 38 scarab pull into the cove. |
I thought I saw one listed in PBM,
and Hot Boat on June 28th. ......... anybody else ???? |
Hot Boat does have one listed at LOTO. Not sure of when.
|
hot boat is doing one ... last weekend in june....
I'm planning on doing it..... hopefully that is Don |
Lake of the Ozarks Poker Run; Produced by Performance Productions
For more information call (702) 212-7876 / I'll be damned, I really didn't think they could pull it off, if in fact they do, didn't PRA get the axe a few years ago trying to set one up?? |
Yes PRA did one a few years back, not sure why they couldn't come back although I do think they wanted to. By the way, there was some very nice hardware their, too bad.
|
PRA did not have the Boat Dealer's Assoc. backing. I did not think that they would let a for profit company put on a poker run on at the lake.
|
LOTO NEEDS a serious poker run. The lake is plenty big enough. Why don't they?
So many places to go....... |

That was one of the Lewis brothers in the Mistress. All original except the platform and the engines.

Poker Run
The Harbor Hop is this weekend.
|
Yup! The Harbor Hop is kind of a local poker run with almost all of the on-the-water businesses participating.
They have a Harbor Hop poker run in the spring and in the fall. As for the PRA Poker run, and any other that might have been wanting to come to the Ozarks... A couple years ago, Poker Runs America had submitted their regatta permit for a poker run a couple of months after I had filed mine for the Ozarks APBA Offshore race event. While the water patrol was all for allowing the permit for a sanctioned offshore race, I did hear some of the discussion of the water patrol officers having concerns of such a large organized poker run. It sounded like they were a little concerned with a large unorganized group of 100+mph boats, all coming down the lake at one time, much like an uncontrolled offshore race. If ANY organization is considering applying for such an event permit through the Missouri Water Patrol in the near future, (which must be done for any on-the-water event), please feel free to contact me, as I may be able to help with logistics and other "legal" matters. |
Gordo,
We are in the beginning stages of getting together a "Cure for Paralysis" poker run or harbor hop, which ever will fly with the authorities. We were trying to get it together for this year but it will be totally ready for 2004. Already have a few sponsors on board, just need to spread the word and get the OK. Everyone is encouraged to let me know their thoughts. Ryan |
So it will be a good time !

Ryan,
Sounds like we should get together. I have some contacts with the Tri Counties Chamber that would probably like to be involved, (no real money, but great advertising venue), and possibly some other contacts for you. Besides, I'm anxious to see the changes to the boat... |
PM me for some support!!!
|
How bad are the patrol guys about sound at LOTO? I want to bring the Top Gun but the trailer might not be ready in time. So, I will bring the 28. The problem is that the 28 is LOUD. I have heard if you don't provoke the cops, they cut you slack. I don't want to get there and have the boat get banned before I can see some skirts!
|
Noise
I think if no one complains your in the good. This time of year they are not bad, And there are very few around!!!!!!
|
Grandfather clause if your boat is old enough. I'm not sure what year they started that, but I know my boat is plenty old enough ;) :) :)
|
I would check on the specifics of the grand father clause. That allows older boats that were not factory equiped with a muffling system some leeway, but even the older boats have to meet a minumin standard.
As someone said, as long as you don't go blastin WFO by a water patrol officer, you will probably be ok. |
Or "obnoxiously" revving your motors!!!!!!!! ;)
