Outdrive alignment?????
 

OK boys, just heard this one, tell me what you think:
Heard that on V-hull boats, the drives should be aligned slightly towed-in to compensate for the tendency of the V-hull to send the water outward.

Now, I have never heard of this theory before and I personally do not subscribe to it. However, maybe I should. :confused:

So,,,,,,,,,,,,,hyperbole or fact??????

You can test with GPS to find if there is any speed difference. I heard it too and we always had a 1/2 inch toe in from the nose to the end of the propshaft. Its very slight.

On tunnel boats, I've seen best experience with about 1/4" toe in used. Vee-hulls likely need a bit more.

Well, had I bet on this one,,,,,,I would have lost!! I really thought this was a bunch of bologna.

I suppose it makes some sense logically that the water from under the boat is being thrust outward, but I didn't think it would make enough difference to require slight drive toe-in. Pretty interesting, never seen anything posted on this before.

Each hull is different I've done alot of testing ,If you have really big motors the tork of the motors can make the drives twist a little you have to test to find what is write for your boat 1/4 in to a 1/4 out. Moving It 1/8 at a time All in the same water conditions will make it the best for your true drive alginment.

I did alot of reaserch on this ,,they need toe in

Was having slight handling issues on my boat last year. Come to find out mine where toed in about an inch. I straitened them out and are planing on splashing this week. I'll let you know the results
