73 Cigarette Flat Deck

Hopefully I got your attention with the subject description. This is the 73" Cigarette flat deck scale model of the famous race winning 36' hull that carried Don Aronow to so many wins in the late seventies and early eighties. She meets the class rules for the APBA RC Superboat class. Designed for single or twin two stroke gas engines from 23cc up to 70cc. 18.5" beam, 18 lbs. dry. Speed from 35 -65 mph. Email with any comments or questions, or just reply to this thread.

Here is a second picture showing the Merc #6 twin outdrives. These are counter-rotating, internally geared, aluminum cases, and inboard steering. These are no longer made, but I am trying to import some similar ones from Germany. The bronze props are from England.

I never saw R/C #6 drives. How cool is that? How much did they cost and who made them?

How long it she? Got any motors in there?

She is 73" in length. Yes there are twin 23cc high mod water cooled Zenoah two stroke gas engines about 3.6 hp apiece. Picture of engines attached. They run tuned pipes that exit through the transom exhausts. The drives were about $300 apiece, and were made by Pete Kanellos in Mass. They are no longer avaiable. I manufacture this hull as a hobby business just so that RCers can get one if they want. Bob.

Are you setting up to manufacture as a kit
If so I would be interested

ren3 04-29-2003 12:57 PM

I have been manufacturing the hull for a year and a half. I do not supply the other components though they are easily obtained. Bob.

Nice toy!!!!!!

I bet you'll have over 2K into it by the time your done.

You should start producing and selling more, I read your posts about them in the Cigarette forum. I am sure a lot of people on OSO would be interested in buying them, me being one of them.

It would be real cool if you could build different hull models.......top gun, cafe racer, ss....ect. and paint them to match induvidual owners boats:cool:

I would consider building a newer style Cigarette hull, but the time and cost involved in building a new plug and expertly crafted molds is substantial. As Ron estimated above the boat with engines and drives exceeds two grand. The hull is $500 plus shipping. The outdrives are $300 apiece. The engines are $450 apiece. Painting is as expensive as the airbrush allows. It would take some substantial deposits against future guaranteed delivery to justify the initial expense for the hull. I am willing to consider it though. I must add that I have no interest in building a smaller hull though. Here is a picture of the Merc #6 from Germany that I am trying to bring in. Bob.

That's the sharpest R/C boat I've ever seen. I had no idea you could get #6 drives like that. That is really sweet!
