New Buoys to Slow Boaters

Well they have started dropping the No Wake Buoys. Roger Brown of the Boating Regulation Commission said "We're not going to do anything else unless we get some complaints." Here is the article:
No Wake Buoys
I see a change coming in navigation south of the canal. The shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. This will now have everyone heading for the Mantoloking bridge taking the channel along Bay Head & Mantoloking east of Herring Island and right in the backyards of those that probably pushed for all this. I don't see this no wake zone lasting between the canal and Beaverdam Creek...but time will tell!

No wake ?

Hi Tim, the way i read it, there will be 1 bouy in front of each Y club in the Metediconk, and where else? How wll this effect leaving the river and heading south? I read the bills you posted, and it appears the no wake area around these bouys is a 200' Radius? that doesn't seem too hard to avoid. I read it, we can run "fast" right down the center of the river?

Philip,
Upon leaving the canal heading south, the usual route would be head west towards Beaverdam Creek, then left towards the Metedeconk, then east and south to get to Barnegat Bay and the Mantoloking Bridge. Now with them making the majority of that No Wake, it will only be normal for someone to take the shortest route if they have to be at no wake. That means instead of heading west after leaving the canal, they will just continue on south through the channel east of Herring Island. Again, right in the backyards of Mantoloking and Bay Head. These people will now be dealing with alot more traffic than normal, and you will see they will then start complaining about that! Next thing these people will be asking for is making that channel a private drive (Local Boaters Only) I wouldn't put anything past these people...They all knew when buying a house on the water there will be some boat traffic and noise. As I read in the courts yesterday, "A person sueing for hearing loss after attending a concert." Judge dismissed the case. "You accepted the responsibilty and dangers upon entering the concert."
Same here. They accepted the noise and boat traffic upon purchasing their home on the water.
I just posted the article on the noise today. Click on SPEED LIMIT UPDATES link below:

Can you make up a list of all the names of political people that backed these bills and let us know who is running against them in the next election? So we can e-mail them and support them anyway possible.

Did I read it right, that Silver Bay will become a "NO WAKE" zone????
The entire bay??
Or just off channel?

I grew up running around there. Used to live in Snug Harbor.
At times Barnegate Bay was too rough for my boat so I stayed in the bay and cove area. We used to ski in the small cove, party on the little beach in the back. I was out there the night the boat house burned on Cattus Island.
What a loss.

If they are really serious about slowing down the powerboaters, they should consider installing these bouys instead.

Now, you can tell that the water temp is way to low to be in Florida!:D

She shouldn't worry about drowning with those "water wings"
