Yes. Not sure how though. He was walking in the wet pits after rescue brought him in. Not sure how he was the following day, or even now. But he did make it through the accident itself.

Cord 11-21-2003 06:58 PM

There is another pic of him skipping down the water on his back. The boat nearly ran him over.

Panther 11-21-2003 08:24 PM

Damn Chord! that sucks!

What was left of the boat?

Just about nothing. The engine got ripped out and sank. I don't know if the drive stayed on, it proably didn't. The hull still floated, but only because of the air that was trapped in the sponsons. The side of the boat was ripped open from where the engine exited. Amazingly the driver was ok.

traviss 11-22-2003 05:39 PM

they had about a 10 clip pic set in powerboat this month.. unbeleiveable..!

GLH 11-22-2003 06:08 PM

In the Powerboat pics you see the drive bend to crap and the engine ripping out. Amazing pictures.
That is not to mention the poor guy getting beat up like no tomorrow.

Don't forget the video.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 11-23-2003 04:00 AM

He was very lucky to have been thrown clear of the boat. It appears the boat was already chine walking from some boat wakes then got airborne off a heavy roller which the combination of the two was not going to let the boat come down straight. The boat then goes and trips on the next roller forcing the re-entry to push the one side of the bow down first. From there, the boat bounces off the water enough to create lift that leaves the boat in a bad postion. Sort of like a sheet of plywood catching a gust of wind.....

Glad to hear he is ok.....

He is so lucky. It's crazy how fast things happen. It looked like he has a shot of pulling out of it but kept going and thats when he tripped.

Makes you wonder why you would want to go that fast without being in an enlosed canapy. I also guess that is a big reason why a lot of the radar shootouts are being cancelled or not allowed these days.

Sean 11-25-2003 03:31 PM

that htm video just goes to show you how fast something bad can happen...and in a straight line...

it looked like the boat even settled down for a bit and then just caught a wake wrong and hooked...

that's one lucky sob....
