Question Baker engineering ????

Anyone have information on Baker engineering? Good / Bad otherwise. I never heard of them before. I was looking for marine engines and stumbled across the site. I see they have a 600HP EFI engine that looks nice.

I could be wrong, but I think Dave1972 had them work on his boat last year. I'm sure the west siders can shed some light though.

His shop indeed looks nice and clean and that means a lot.

Ray, still undecided on what you are putting in the new Fountain? I thought you decided on 500's?

HP500 No I am definatly going with the 500's . I am needing some glasswork and seen they do blueprinting too. The bottom of my eliminator needs some touch up as well as the PQ. I also noticed the 600HP engine. I am just checking them out a little.

There might be a couple of Bakers out there. The ones that I know of are from Illinois and are very knowledgeable on outboards. They do alot of small drag boats and custom engines. They may even build drag hulls. I believe that Brad Zastrow had some major boat work done by them. He'd be the one to ask.

The guys at baker build good quality engines, and the repair & rigging work they do is excellent.

I've had Baker do some monor work for me over the years. I've talked with Jack many times at his shop, boat shows, on the water in Grand Haven, etc... He is a really straight forward guy with a wealth of knowledge. Their shop is spotless, their dyno room is cleaner than that, and they do top knotch work. Baker is the support team for the Cat Can Do Super Cat team. In fact, the teams share the same building in Nunica, MI (just outside Grand Haven). Anyone considering one of their motors would be making a good choice, in my humble opinion.
