Mike,
I went down to the Oceanside Marina on Saturday and there was approx. 12 boats there. It was pathetic. 4-5 yrs ago, there were approx. 40-50 boats there for the races. I didn't even bother to go down there for the races on Sunday.

Went down for the races Sunday and the number of boats was a joke. If it wasn't for the Jet Ski races being there I doubt there would have been anyone there to watch either.
That said, the race was fun to watch. Nice and rough!:D I hope more boats show for the rest of the races.

I went down on Sunday. Saturday it was too rough maybe 60 mph water.
The boats that were there put on a great show.
Nigel ran well with Bret Seber on the helm. Colby led from the start and retired. Peterson had a good fight with Brent.
There was a lack of East Coast participation. There is a lot of lakes out here in the surrounding states.
I do not think that the East coast boats can handle the type of water out here.
:D
I know of several other boats that are talking about coming out of the wood works so there will be a larger show at the next race.
Maybe thet should try to push the Texas race to California. Try Dana point for instance.

So where do I find the results of the races?

I've heard that Jamin Jones might be racing on the Left Coast this year, anyone hear anything about Jamin?

Mike J 05-05-2003 02:28 PM

Look for POPRA on the APBA
home page but there not very
fas with results even with a
few racers.
I understand Nigel Hook WON
overall with 3 SuperCats in
the Race.
He still wants more prop!!!
anyone have a couple so they
can test, Need to fit #6 shafts.
I thought SARAH D. was going
to drive a race or 2 with The
Other Brit when Craig Archer
was busy in NZ.

First, let me thank the POPRA staff and Bret Seber for putting on a great race with limited amount of boats. As we all know, the boat count is not where we want it but that will change as the season goes on. I had a chance to talk to many of the teams that did not race Oceanside and they tell me they will be at the next race. Some of these teams will have new boats and some will be back racing in last year’s boat.

Saturday was very rough. The off and on rain didn’t help with the testing times either. I would say that the seas had 10’s and 12’s and it came from every direction. We went out around 2pm and turned the buoy and came back in. No team was going to learn anything that day.

Sunday the sea’s settled down a bit and made for a great rough water race. I know at least three teams broke during the race.

I believe this is how we all ended up but this is not official:

PX – How Sweet It Is (Talon)
SC – Kid Stuff/Ettore
SCL- American Custom Wheels, Honker Cut, Eliminator (broke drive)
SVL- Lucas Oil
F2 - Twister Racing
F1 – F1-11, F1-007
P5 – Bad Influence
