Looks like a 40 foot skater. have a poster of it at home. It was a four seater.

Skater......and that picture was taken in Lake Michigan at the Waukegan (Chicago) race in the early 90's...... I believe Augie Busch IV and Jeff Sofer were in the cockpits.....soon after that the Busch family pulled the plug on Augie's racing.

was it one of the first 40 footers?

Ryan Beckley 05-05-2003 10:08 PM

Yes it was one of the first 40's. It was powered by the Turbo Craft engines by Bruce Falls, the same motors were later in How Sweet It Is. It was VERY fast till it broke. They later converted this boat to #6 drive because they used to get the drives out of whack alot. In the end this boat won some races.

Ryan,

Do you happen to know how much power Bruce Falls engines were making back in the day?

Also do you know how many cubic inch they had per engine?

Believe these are the same engines mentioned in one of Sharke's photo threads,.......all the plumbing in the lifter valley,..turbos etc.

Thanks for any insight

Jon

I am pretty sure that was hull number one for the 40 a 1990. It was for sale recently on oso. Last race i saw it in was in michigan at the quake on the lake around 1992-3 with Bob kasier driving it with Jeff Sofer.

Nope, we got the first three 40' hulls. #1 went to Dubai

ActiveFun 08-25-2011 03:58 PM

Sorry if this is a stupid question, how many pleasure boats vs. race boats go to Dubai? Do people run around in large Skaters for fun over there like we do?

RELIABLE ONE 08-25-2011 04:08 PM

It was Hull #2 and Circus Circus was Hull#3,AE Motorsports was Hull#4

I think they were 354s twin turbo motors . I have a old OPT VHS TAPE of some of the races back then. I could be off, theres just some things I recall back then with boat racing:coolcowboy:g . LIKE in 1990 D50 won it all at the plymouth mass race it was a white 32 scorpion hull, on the way back to the wet pits we offered them a beer, they laughed and we tossed them a coke or water. that was a great race big swells on the inside of the coarse from the sand bar. we were in 2 footers . its a cool FFvideo. ARTps that fall I bought my 1st hp boat.
