Hey Clay, are you just mad at the GPS because it reads 10 mph slower than your speedo.:D :D :D

I have the Garmin III+ and it was to small, it now stay's in the truck 99% of the time the boat got the Garmin 215 very happy with it.

You wouldn't think that in the ocean. It helps tremendously with shallow areas and channels. I just switched mine from black & white to the new color screen. It is 100% easier to read at high speed.

I'm on a psuedo budget - self imposed, economy looks hopeful though. I just bought a Standard Horizon CP150 Chart with the chip. It was 350 + 190 for the wide chip. Plugs right into my radio. Decent price for the features. A Garmin is nice but it's almost 1 grand.

Check out www.gpsdiscount.com for the best prices.

IF YOU WOULD STOP leaving your Bumpers out you could go a lot faster :D

I've done quite a bit of looking and reading and have found that the Garmin 176 was a tad small. A 5" screen would be the way to go. All the decent ones need chips to get the real details your looking for so don't get caught up in the names and features of expensive models when they all run pretty much the same chips with the same detail. Garmin uses its own BLUECHART CARTOGRAPHY, the rest split between NAVIONICS and C-MAP NT. I have been told for our type of boating that NAVIONICS will give better detail. Not sure if thats true or not. I went with the EAGLE 320 INTELLIMAP. All the bells and whistles of the other black and white units but with 320+320 resolution, Navionics or Cd down loadable and you can also use a memory card to prechart your course or record your trip and only 349.99.
