Has a baja EVER won an offshore race?

Baja Wins in Daytona
High Priority Offshore. 27' Baja the smallest boat in the fleet won the seasons opening event in the APBA offshore race in Daytona. Driver Warren Miller and Throttled by Mack Clark led laps 2 thur 7 to win the race in sloppy waters. Posted in the Baja section by High Priority |
Congrats Warren and Mack, I left early but wanted to say that in Daytona. Will we see you going for #2 in Marathon?

is that it.......................just 1
in how many years? |
Baja used to manufacture a 33' cat. One of the Rolling Thunders is a 33 Baja-I believe they may of won some of the local NJ races. A second Rolling Thunder is a Jaguar cat so I'm not sure if I'm mixing the two up. There was also a boat named "Kat" which was also a 33 and ran in the modified class years ago.
|
There were also two 24' Bajas that ran last year, one out of Cape Cod, "Air Time" and of course Jersey Boy Bruce, who ran very competively in "Simply Awesome". Both ran in P5.

BAJA CATS
Bob,
To the best of my knowledge there were three 33 foot BAJA cats made for competition in 1985: M7 BAJA M43 Rolling Thunder.......later became C23 then C1 Rolling Thunder P177 BAJA Bandit and finally 333 Ofixco Special????35 footer raced in Open Class...later became 77 BFI Systems. I believe all four of these boats won at least one race before being retired; I am not 100% sure though. |
You guys are the best

Gene Weeks and Ken Aquino(sp?) did fairly well for a while. They had a couple 3rd and 4th place finishes, They never dominated or anything like that, but held their own in the middle of the pack. :)

In 2000 I flew shot gun in the Angel II rescue helicopter. I will never forget watching from above Adibe Mastry running the Baja F2 Boat in Texas. He was a consistent 3rd running very well in rough water. BH

Mike:
I really hate it that you don't have the trailer down there for your boat. It's outta my hands. You need to get Sanford and Son to make some phone calls. There's still a boat sitting on the trailer. Treadwell was supposed to take it to St Cloud but he pulled a George Jones and I was going to take it to Daytona but it's still got a boat on it. BH |
