The Dyno Results Are In!!!!!!!!!!

the old 540's that sank with the old eliminator daytona are alive and well again for there new mission the the 32 skater. the AGITATOR will get its new look on life with this set up and i want to know what you guys think. 555cid's w/1271 blowers with blower shop intercoolers. 13psi boost with 50/50 mix race gas/94 pump 34deg timing all in at 3000rpm. 1230hp at 7500rpm 1115fp torque at 5500. has over 1000fp torque from 3000to6800rpms. its over the hill at 7200rpm. boat has crashboxes with 1.25 speedmaster #5's spinning in with 17.5x31 pitch 3 blades. i think the boat should run 145 with no trouble with this set up and also i think 3 blades will be better for top end with less tail lift. WHAT DO THE OSO GODS THINK??????????????? also thanks khadley, cooper, bill b, and whitey for the help.

new afr heads w/700 lift mec roller t&d shaft rockers

rbtnt 05-09-2003 03:42 AM

Great numbers.

At 6800 you should be around 145, but I think you told me you were going to spin them higher than that.

I have the t&d rockers in mine and have been very happy with them. Can't wait to come down and see you on the water.

Good luck and be safe.

ITLLFLI 05-09-2003 06:13 AM

I think I'll stay out of your way:D :D

CigBoat 05-09-2003 06:21 AM

Sounds good Byron look for me along the bank

WETTE VETTE 05-09-2003 07:38 AM

How many hours do you hope to run the springs and lifters? As you know that is the downfall to solid rollers, but they sure are nice for making power. I would say 40 hrs. max and you should be ok. So far with a .715" lift solid roller cam I haven't had any problems at 25 hrs. on the current motor, but I only turn a measley 6300 RPM. :D Should be awesome!!!

SLINGSHOT 05-09-2003 07:39 AM

YOUR GONNA DIE....LOL SOUNDS LIKE A SICK PACKAGE BE CAREFULL

jdnca1 05-09-2003 07:41 AM

Charlie;

What lifters are you running? What are your cam specs?

What springs?

Those are sweet dyno numbers, can't wait to hear those motors screaming at 7500.

bobby daniels 05-09-2003 09:02 AM

I think everyone is hinting around the same question ,why cam it to turn so many ?As you know the faster you turn it the more H.p.
6500 is alot for something you want to live with that much spinning mass !!! Hey I think its great and hope your very happy but what are some numbers in the 5500 to 6500 range ,,H.P. and tor. ??

Please don't read this wrong I just am curious ??
I do ALOT of 540's and 565's with blowers on the dyno !!!:D :D :D

liquidlocomotive 05-09-2003 09:03 AM

put a scatter sheild in the engine compartment if your going to turn big blocks that high of rpm for very long. YEEEHAAA.

Sydwayz 05-09-2003 09:08 AM

From a previous video thead:
"Was that your engine?"
"Here's another humongous piece of block."

LOL, sounds kicken!

mmwalters 05-09-2003 09:09 AM

Merlin Lets see That ran 100-110mph before. You added almost 3x more horsepower. So speed should be 300-330mph, right?

bobby daniels 05-09-2003 11:39 AM

ttt

boot 05-09-2003 12:23 PM

NIce ! Best of luck with it ! JOE

merlin540 05-09-2003 02:25 PM

it has crower hipo lifters and isky enduance springs. i hope to get 75 hrs before pulling some maint. as you know skaters want a lot of rpm to run the number and i built this to race/poker runs only. i will use my american offshore to run every day. i just dont know about 3 blades verses 4 blades?????????

Audiofn 05-09-2003 02:30 PM

Man that thing is going to sound crazy at those RPMs :D Why do Skaters like to be run at high RPM's vs different gear ratio? That is interesting to hear.

Jon

bobby daniels 05-09-2003 03:52 PM

Audio is right change gears and get the prop shaft speed up the boat only cares if the props are buzzing I guess they most likly don't care about the motor ,but I would not turn the motors that hard ,,I really would not even for poker runs ,just gear it please !!!
Again I 'm just voicing my experence 02 cents worth don't take it wrong ,,get a cam that mkes power lower so it'll live forever :D :D

Or carry a basket for the parts :( :( :(

Charlie:

Glad to hear you are ready to race. Give me a call when you get a chance.

That a boy Chaz......!!

Guys, I went over and helped him for a few hours a week or two ago, and let me tell ya....everything on that rig is first class from the bilge up. Not only is this thing gonna cook, but it is sharp as a tack from a asthetics vantage point. Bad is all get out........!! Done right, done with class, Looks great Charlie...

Sad thing is, I still like the big banana better (boat:D )

Goodluck with the install, be safe and let me know if you need a hand. That is gonna sound crazy @ 7500.........

By the way, ZImmer Tractor sales is having an auction and there are a few zero turn riders listed. Saturday the 17th. 800-323-4915

Ceeeeeeeeeya....;)

eliminator219 05-11-2003 10:35 AM

High rpms and just for poker runs?

Merlin 540
sounds like a bomb just waiting to go off, wish you all the luck in the world but really think that there will be some more engines in your future in the near future..Why not turn the rpms down a tad and change gears? set it for lower rpms with more torque.
anyway bet it will fly..for a while!!
