If you have Sunbrella material, I wouldn't wash it in a machine. I just washed mine this spring -- in cold, on gentle, tumble dry no heat and the thing still shrunk about 3 inches! I'm pretty screwed now.

I lay down a large plastic sheet(painters plastic or a a big tarp) and duct tape it to the driveway. On that I lay the Cover, and wash it with a hose and some simple green solution or some gentle boat wash. I use large bristle brush on a long handle to clean it thouroughly.
After it dries in the sun, I then coat it with some waterproofer using the same brush.
