Has anyone considered the Arneson drives with a longer shaft that trim up/down only, with a separate rudder? BPM manufacturers these (under license) in Europe. They are used on a lot of the Class 1 offshore boats. There is a boat called “Rare Breed”, manufactured by MTI that has the BPM/Arneson drives.

Using the BPM style Arnesons would eliminate some of the negative traits of the “normal” Arnesons.

Can you post a photo of the BPM drive or a link to a photo???
I thought the MTI uses the Trimax/Buzzi drive wich is fixed surface drive and a rudder.

The “Tommy Bahama” MTI uses Trimax/Buzzi, “Rare Breed” and one of the “Pier 57” boats use BPM.

Thanks for the links. You are right about that drive but like the Trimax the boat has to be built from day one to accommodate those two drives. The BPM trims up & down and steer with the rudder like you said. The Trimax does not trim it is fixed.
Both the Pulse Drive and the Anerson can be placed on any boat and that is their advantage.
Boats like Randy Scim's MTI are build with a swim platform that will allow the use of a BPM and the Trimax which are race proven in Europe.

Does any one know if there has been any changes to the ASD-10, there is 2 dual shaft asd-10 for sale, brand new never hung but, 4-5 years old, can they be converted to a twinn application and has the technology changed for that particular drive or are they the same from 4-5 years ago, thanks Jeff.

IMongo, you changed to the Pulse from Bravo’s?, what kind of speed did you pick up? I know you are re-powering at the moment, possibly larger power so it is not a fair comparison, how much of an increase in speed did you get when just changing to the Pulse drives?

You have stated that you are slow in turning and such, was the Bravo’s better?

4 mph and we were still playing with the props when the motors blew. Should hit 80 with the new motors.

Rudder steering vs directional thrust. Only a small difference at speed. The race boat Frayed Not won just about everytime it went out and never had any drive maintainence for the whole season. No turning issues there.
