Ordering a boat, NEW from factory!

Curious as to the experiences of people who have ordered new boats.
This is important, 3 things:
1) Was your boat delivered on time?
2) Was everything done as ordered?
3) Would you do it again with the same manufacturer?

please list your expereinces good or bad, and your recommendations! This IS very important!
Thanks:cool:

I'm still waiting for mine. It's going to be 1 to 2 weeks late, but I was never given a solid delivery date when it was ordered, just an estimate. That isn't a significant delay, so I don't mind. As for the other two questions, I'll let you know in a couple of weeks......

No to all three!:hothead:

What kind of boat are you ordering? I ordered a new Baja in 1999.
1) The boat came in about a month later than told it would by the dealer...:(
2)Everything was done as ordered...:)
3) I would do it again, it was worth it to get it exactly like I wanted it...

Good Luck

yes to all 3.

Make sure you get it like you want. Exactly like you want. In my case Fountain got me good. It does dosen't matter if Reggie or the pres of your boat company gives you personal assurances. DONT CLOSE UNTIL YOU GET WHAT YOY PAID FOR.

#1 - My boat was 2 weeks late but well worth the wait.
#2 - Yes everything was done as planned.....and then some!!!!
#3 - Yes in a heartbeat.

This seems like a loaded thread...maybe I'm wrong!

1 bad, 1 good.

Ordered new boat in 98 from a un-named western state
builder. 6 weeks late, 19 things wrong or missing, didn't
run. No apologies no support. Fought with them for the
4 years I owned it. As said before, don't sign the paperwork
until it's in your hands and correct. Don't let the desperate
need to boat cloud your judgement. I did.
The last one had minor glitches that were handled.
Good luck. JC

Mine was late - not by enough to get me mad, just a little impatient. (However, it gave the weather time to warm up. I had the boat built over the winter and got it in May - just in time for the start of Jersey boating season.)
Everthing was as ordered.
I probably would do it again with the same builder (if money weren't an issue).

I ordered my boat from Fountain, the paper work went through a local dealer in Washington NC. Anyway It was completed within a couple of days of delivery date, cockpit carpet was late, no big deal. However they did mess up one of the colors, Fountain fixed it at a later date. As stated, when you pick it up go over everything and if its not exactly the way you ordered it, put it in writing.
