Need help finding a 31' - 38' boat!

If anyone knows of a good deal on any of these boats, please let me know. Looking to be around the $100k range.

38 Sonic
38 Formula
358 Sonic
31 Sonic
32 AT
38 Donzi
33 Donzi (maybe, don't know enough about them)
38 Cigarette
35 Cigarette

Boat must have:
Trailer
Shore power
Electric head
Fridge

Would really like these options (but will add if the boat is a good deal):
A/C
Transom shower
TV/VCR

Spead is not the most important. Around 70 mph or better will be fine. Prefer MPI engines, but 500 HP carbs are ok too. We spend a lot of weekends on it, so creature comforts are the most important.

audacity 05-12-2003 06:17 AM

my deal is better than ever!!!

bn 05-12-2003 10:25 AM

Sorry audacity, but the wife say no way on the side by side bolsters. You have a very nice boat though! Thanks.

Crazyhorse 05-12-2003 11:22 AM

Ed Geerlings at Great Lakes Marina has a 38 Powerquest for that number. Give him a call at 231-759-8230.

bn 05-12-2003 06:35 PM

Thanks Crazyhorse. I will see if my wife likes the PQ's.

Where are all the dealers out there?? I thought the dealers checked these forums a lot.

bn 05-13-2003 05:00 AM

Anyone??

BillR 05-13-2003 06:03 AM

How about this?

Guaranteed to be as nice as a new boat or I'll pay for your trip to look at it.

Sonic 4 sale

How about a 1994 45' with trip 540/500 bulldogs? Check out the details on the "sonic" thread.

Scorer83 05-13-2003 06:57 AM

Now I've heard everything!

Audacity's boat has got to be the best maintained boat out there. And talk about properly equipped? Everything needed is on this boat including a kick-ass stereo, not to mention, he has probably spent more hours dialing it in (perfecting) than any other human on earth. Side by side a problem? Retro-fit the front bolsters to the old style split bolsters, but don't discount it because of the new style bolsters, the boat is awsome!

vagrant 05-13-2003 08:24 AM

BN,

I'm just curious why doesn't she like the side by side seats?

Thanks

Buy my 2001 32 Sunsation. See pics in Boats for Sale (4 or 5 pages back). Boat is better than new.

bn 05-13-2003 10:27 AM

Everytime I have showed my wife a boat with side-by-side bolsters, she just says no way. Even with the 42 Sonic she doesn't like them. I have to agree with her, it would be tough to get used to having a passenger right next to me and if I want to go in the cabin or walk around to the back, I have to squeeze between my passenger and the dash.

Just personal preference and staying with traditional setups.

I don't think that I could get used to throttles on the left either. :D

the throttles are still on the right...there is too much going on/to watch on todays hi-performance boats to do it all yourself...i'm personally more hi-perf oriented and would never do it any other way...i would like to add another helm if i were to keep the boat....i'm not much for driving.

HiPerf2000 05-13-2003 11:46 AM

i could see if your wife/girl was always the person next to you in the side by side bolster, .......but what if you and a couple buddies go for a ride? There will be 2 guys arms bumping each other (usually bare skin in the hot summer days).........maybe i'm just too homo-phobic, but it's a bit gay to me.

i'm gay so i don't really care

audacity 05-13-2003 12:05 PM

oops...no that was my x-wife...she waz gay...maybe if i had different bolsters we would still be together...she never did care for the stubble on my arms!

Why no way on side by side bolsters. I have them in my 41 Velocity and love them. My wife can drive and I can trim and trottle. We're also able to talk without having to scream at each other.

Geeze, I took my buddy's Formula for a little spin on saturday and couldn't throttle with my right hand. Completely lost it.

But my two favorite boats have left throttle, my Velocity and Skaters.

audacity 05-13-2003 12:28 PM

Mr.V. that is exactly how i use them...and with the headsets, it's that much easier for me to teach....but i do know some(one) that says i don't want to have to listen to her!LOL

sonicse 05-13-2003 12:28 PM

I have to agree with bn. I just say no to the side by side bolsters. Don't get me wrong Audacity's boat is absolutely beautiful but the side by sides are not for me

audacity 05-13-2003 12:32 PM

it think this is the only way...i love sit'n!

Indy 05-13-2003 12:38 PM

I too prefer the traditional set-up, the side-by-side is just a bit too "chummy" for me :p And as bn stated, if I need to get around, it's not as convenient. Don't get me wrong though, Audacity's boat is 10 times the boat that mine is and will make somebody a proud owner someday.

audacity 05-13-2003 12:46 PM

i know what you mean indy...but that's my excuse...u know...get this, get that...i can't so u do it!...our next boat (fishing) will still have the side by side...but an exit on both sides :D

vagrant 05-13-2003 02:33 PM

I not sure I understand, are you guys saying that you dont want side by side because in makes you look or feel gay?

bn 05-13-2003 04:09 PM

Ok, if you want to talk about side-by-side bolsters, please start another thread. In fact, sounds like a good topic for a poll. :)

Can someone PLEASE help me find a boat!!! With Memorial Day weekend just around the corner, I'm going crazy!! :(

offshor 05-13-2003 04:18 PM

Hey BN

Interested in the 45' with trip bulldogs ?

bn 05-13-2003 05:06 PM

Sorry, offshor 45 is too big for our needs. The biggest that would make sense for what we do is probably 38.

Thanks anyway!

Donzi38ZX 05-13-2003 09:34 PM

Donzi 38 ZX asking $129k

Here is a 1998 38ZX freshwater boat. A little above 100K but who knows what they will take. I got mine for $40K under asking.

bn 05-14-2003 05:09 AM

Donzi38ZX - I saw that boat on the trader. It's not a stepped bottom, so I didn't think that it was a good deal.

Thanks! Please keep them coming!!

jmackin 05-14-2003 05:16 AM

You need to look @ a 38 Powerquest. Hard to beat for the $. They are well built and hold up very well.

dyno 05-14-2003 06:24 AM

There is a mint 1994 38 Formula in Muskegon for sale 525's with intercoolers, steering, genny, everything but the kitchen sink well it has one of those too! I think it could be bought for 100k. If your interested I can get the guys # PM me if you do....

vagrant 05-14-2003 06:55 AM

Bn,

There is a 2002 active thunder for sale by Larry Goldman in Fort Lauderdale that is loaded. Gen air all the goodies. Still has the warranty with the motors for 120,000. The boat has been for sale for a while I looked at it last year its a nice ride. Tom Martin with Dollar has his number.

Good Luck
David

bn 05-14-2003 11:19 AM

vagrant - I had a friend look at the AT that Larry has and I have talked to Larry about it. I think that it would be a good deal if it weren't for the paint job and if it had a trailer. I think the real reason that it hasn't sold is bec of the graphics.

I'll have to look into the PQ's, don't know much about them.

As far as the Fountain goes, sorry haven't seen one yet in my price range that meets my needs. Unfortunately the cabin on the 35's is way smaller than in the 35 Sonic that I just sold. Thanks anyway!

chesbotr 05-14-2003 02:40 PM

98 38 sonic

See my 1998 38 Sonic under the classified section.. GREAT BOAT!

Pantera1 05-14-2003 06:39 PM

Fred / TooOld had a real clean fountain for sale ???

GO4BROKE 05-14-2003 07:30 PM

did you try www.powerboatusa.com ?:p ;)

bn 05-14-2003 07:44 PM

chesbotr - You have an awsome boat, but I think that it's out of my price range.

Pantera1 - Ya, that's a nice Fountain, but I don't think that I will be pleased with the cabin after having my 35 Sonic.

GO4BROKE - never heard of that site. :D
