Pantera question
I noticed that their are two different type of cockpit fairings on Pantera boats.
Some are the same height all the way across, and some are more pointy in the middle. Which one looks better? Why the difference? Anyone? Beuler? Beuler? Anyone? |
If I'm not mistaken, the 24 has a straight fairing, and the 28 has the angled one. I like the look of the angled fairing.
|
I agree on the angled fairing, but what I meant was there seems to be two types of angled fairings.
I noticed one boat had one that was taller in the middle of the fairing, meaning that the height of the fairing increase towards the middle. Then another boat I saw the height was constant all the way across... Maybe I am going insane in the membrane.... |
Farirings..
The 24 has the option of either the "V" or the straight fairing, depending on the interior you choose.
I'm sure Jo will add more here, but I think the 28 only gets the "V", unless you elect for the full race dash..then maybe you'll get the option of straight across. My 28 has the "V", and looks good. However, wind protection/deflection is only marginal. |

I think the photo will sometimes make it look taller in the middle, but it is not. :chick:

I have the 24 with the V fairing, It allows for a cabin door and a cabin with 2 sit down buckets and a 6ft6' v- birth. The cockpit is a little bigger as well.
The fairing that is strait across has a crawl in cabin that is much more difficult to enter andI believe only has a v-birth. The bow is longer and the cockpit is smaller |

I had a 28 Pantera and the fairing was pointed in the middle, but it was flat across the top. Here is a picture from the cockpit side.

And here is the other side.

Okay, I see... I guess it just appears to be taller. My bad.
Kitten, it was your boat I was looking at on the Pantera website that made me think it was taller in the middle. Thanks for the input, I'll shut up now... |

Dog you are correct... The older race boats have one faring and the sport boats have a different fairing. I can't find a close up but I believe that this is what you mean on the stepped fairing. On the black race boat there is even a different fairing

Von Bongo - Wow that thing is cool looking. Is that yours?
I have seen that style fairing, that is not what I was talking about though. I guess I was confusing the Pantera angled fairing with the style on the older Cigarette 28 ss with the steeper pitch in the middle. I thought there was two choices on the height of the fairing on the Pantera. |
Pantera makes two different decks for the 24. One has the "v" shaped faring and is essentially a smaller version of the 28 and is more suitable for family boating. The other is the flat straight across faring where the back of it acts as the dash and is set up to be more suitable for the sit down bolsters and the guy that wants to go out and really tear up the water. My good friend has a 2003 24 sit down, flat faring thats almost done. I've sat in both styles and the flat faring style will be more suitable for us as we are putting a 600hp(dyno proven) big block in it and we're not interested in entertaining the in-laws and eventually we might race on the P class.

No that one is not mine, it belonged to another OSO member but I think he sold it.
