Arrow Scism's MTI a Rare Breed among Manufacturers - Earns Powerboat Mag Award

RANDY SCISM’S MARINE TECHNOLOGY, INC.
A RARE BREED AMONG BOAT MANUFACTURER’S
MTI-44 PR Earns Prestigious Powerboat Magazine’s 2003 Outstanding Offshore Catamaran Workmanship Award
by Michelle May - Schmidt
Wentzville, MO - - Randy Scism has done it again, winning not one, but two Powerboat Magazine Awards for performance in 2001 and 2003, making his Marine Technology, Inc. Boats a rare breed among the competition.
In fact, Powerboat Magazine tested his client’s MTI – 44’ Poker Runner, titled Rare Breed, as part of their Product Excellence Awards for 2003, proving this pony clearly is a Maverick on the Waterways.
"If you’re looking for the edge of performance-boat construction technology, focus on high-end offshore catamarans. That’s where the stakes – and the prices that accompany them – are hightest, and that’s where the edge of the envelope gets pushed. Only a few companies, Marine Technology, Inc. among them, can compete at such as unrelentingly high level," said the article, featured in the June 2003 Issue of Powerboat Magazine.
The company was also highlighted in the previous story, "Outside the Box" in February this year, and garnered a 2001 Powerboat Magazine award for excellence for their 42’ model, Dirty Duck.
Under the Performance Test Results, the MTI-44PR measured a centerline at 44’5", with the beam at 10’6". The testing weight was 12,500 lbs. and the hull, teamed with twin 1050 Keith Eickert engines, BPM Shaft Drives, and Hering five-blade 16 1/2" X 31 1/3" props, accelerated the boat from zero to 60 miles per hour within 15 seconds.
Top speed as gauged by the Stalker Radar was listed in the report at 131.6 miles per hour, running at 6,500 rpms. Not bad at all for a boat that is totally tricked out with the finest attention to detail, including a full cabin, head and bedroom with a list price of $909,207.
"This particular boat was built and designed by owner, Frank Alleguer, including high tech graphics, upgraded upholstery featuring the Rare Breed name and logo, plus show quality rigging. All MTI models are custom built and designed for each individual client, and we take into consideration peformance, power and price," said Scism.
The article also gives credit to "Scism and his talented crew who learned a few rigging tricks during their Union Internationale Motornautique Class 1 Offshore campaigns, that showed in the engine compartment of the 44-footer."
Scism would agree that his decision to team up with Gary Stray of Supercat Rigging has helped him make such great strides in such little time, only opening for business less than three years ago. Already booming on the raceboat sales market, the company has streamlined their pleasure version MTI 39’, 42’ and 44’ "PR" series catamarans into the spotlight, with awards such as this stacking high for their workmanship, and product excellence.
"Gary and our entire team feel honored to be recognized by Powerboat Magazine again this year. We really feel we have one of the best products out on the water today, and it says something to our company and our clients when our work is recognized by the marine industry. It is a great achievement, added to the honors earned by our race teams," said Scism.
