Default Trs Problems...........help!!!!

Took the Excalibur out today for its initial run to open the season and boom already have problems. First started noticing smoke near the tranny area on starboard side, then stopped engine. Checked all fluids and hoses, every thing looked perfect. Started it back up and started cruising, then weird sensation, figured it would not go into drive, forward nor reverse. All cables were checked and even tried to to shift it manually, no go. It is a Mercrusier E type TRS drive, is this a clutch driven drive? My mechanic went with me while we were out, but he is not all too familiar with working on TRS drives. He was going to look in his manual and try and figure out some trouble shooting problems like this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I was planning on starting the season this Saturday, but it does not look like it is going to happen.

sounds to me you may have lost your tranny. It will go before the drive will, they are very sensitive to low fluid level. Good luck

sounds like a 215E, and it does have an electrically operated clutch. I would have to dig through my stuff for info, but can't get to anything right now. My garage is packed full of the kid's tools and other s--t.

No clutch on the mercruiser tranny. Sounds to me like you may have broken your pump. That is real common on those things. If you want give me a call and I will tell ya what I found with mine. I should be in cell range at aprox 9:00. (978) 985-0639
