WAX-Buffing wheels
 

I want to get a wheel to wax the boat, but know that the high rpm wheels can burn the finish. I've seen the cheap $20-$30 wheels in the stores, are those pretty fool proof and safe to use?

I have a makita. Not the high grade pro one and not the little round cheapy one. It's in between the two. It has worked pretty well however I've only used (applied and buffed) with the wool style pads. I need to try the application with the foam pad, then buff it clean with the wool pad. That is the way I've seen the pro's do it to cars and boats so we'll see how it comes out.

I've used the Maguires foal wheels on our Milwakee. Work great but you have to get some wax on the foam or it will burn. They don't last long if you get near any rough edges.

I have one of the cheaper ones. I actually tried with compound for some pretty bad oxidation and it worked great. Only had time for one side of the boat last weekend. If you walk from one side to the other, it doesn't even look like the same boat.

I have a craftsman 10 orbital polisher it works great about 40 bucks it is fool proof and will not burn paint .
