Great Lakes Water Levels???
Most of us GL boaters have read that the lakes are 10-12 inches down from last year.
I recently heard that the outflow of Superior is going to be increased to raise the lower lakes upwards of a foot. Does anyone else have information on this? I get the Army Corps Report but I don't recall this discussed. I know....just keep it up on plane and no problems....but I am on a canal with a boat lift and right now only if the wind blows right can I float it off. Thanks. Jeff |
I'm on lake Ontario, the water is about a foot below where it was this time last year. I put in my dock 2 weeks ago, since then the water has risen about 6".

From what I've been told Lake Michigan is down 8 inches from last year. I would also like to know if opening up Superior might be true.

I was out the other day and I hit bottom in places that were plenty deep last year. The heavy rain we have had (upwards of 5 inches) lately has helped but not enough. I drive by the lake every day and it looks horrible. There are pilings and docks that have been submerged for years that are showing, and the boat ramps are again too shallow. When I launch i have to push the boat past the dock to free it from the trailer and then go to another slip to dock it or i cannot get the trailer out. I see it down 3 feet from a few years ago.

Mitch, are you saying the DNR ramp is not good for a deep v boat then?? Or did you use Dutton? Elaborate!! Our first SEA 100 run is next tuesday!!!!
