Talking 15 Mph Gain 38 Cigarette T/s Top Gun

WE GAINED 15 MPH WITH THE ADDICTION OF VORTECH SUPERCHARGERS. BOAT HAD MERC 500EFI'S WITH STOCK BRAVO DRIVES. INSTALLED THE VOTECHS AND UPGRADED THE DRIVE TO IMCO XTREME ADVANTAGE DRIVES WITH 1 INCH SPACERS. GAINED 15MPH AT WOT (83-98) GAINED 10MPH AT 4000 AND THE BOAT IS A HOT ROD TO DRIVE.

NOTE -- WHEN WE INSTALLED THE IMCO DRIVE THEY HAVE A BIGGER WATER INTAKE ON THE NOSE CONE, WHICH ALLOWS MORE WATER PSI. THAT WAS A BIG PROBLEM WE HAD 40PSI ++ ON THE GAUGE. HAD TO INSTALL GRIMES WATER DUMPS TO FIX PROBLEM. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE IMCO DRIVE

Alright!! Thats it, I'm buying some blowers!!! Screw this 82 mph crap........98 mph sounds just about right. What mods did you have to do to the EFI's??? Do you have any pics? What did it end up costing and is it a bolt on kit or does it require tweeking??

I KNOW 98 IS NICE BUT LIFE BEGINS AT 100. BUT THE OWNER OF THE BOAT IS HAPPY FOR NOW WITH 98. AS FOR COST WITH THE DRIVE UPGRADE $45,000. THE VORTECH KITS COST AROUND $7,000 A PIECE.

Were they standard length drives before the spacers? So now they are 1" lower than stock? Or were they 2" shorties reduced to 1"?

Those will co$t ya though. My bud's TG T/S didnt gain any speed with the herrings. He tried 4 sets of them. They really work better for bigger boats with bigger power. Rio Roses had them. They helped it alot. Pkilly told me on my boat that they wouldn't make a difference worth the cost.

G04BROKE

Yes the drives were 2 inch shorter drives. We ran a 36 Gladiator the week before withe the 2 inch shorter IMCO drives and we lost 4 mph. So we knew we needed the spacer for the 38.
