Pete B 05-19-2003 07:22 PM

there can only be one , too lite

Ron P 05-19-2003 08:08 PM

That's got to be a hard way to loose a race.

THEJOKER 05-19-2003 09:49 PM

I heard both drives were ripped off Joey - O Town / Donzi and the boat was sinking. See Joey anything can happen out there no matter how much you test or the design of the boat. Man glad you guy's are ok - BH

Pete B 05-20-2003 08:48 AM

thanks for the update, BH
did you get a copy of the paper ?? your boat is on the front during the parade lap.

THEJOKER 05-20-2003 10:28 AM

Nah haven't seen the paper - send me a pic if ya can. BH

I heard that they passed F2-13 on the caution lap, thus giving them a 1 minute penalty...

JKK 05-21-2003 09:17 AM

It was based on a rule set up specifically for the Fountain boats because the Fountain race boats do not use the factory gas tanks as they are supposed too per the APBA rules. 35's without factory gas tanks have to have a certain amount of weight mounted in a certain place in the boat per the ABPA, 57 did not have the weight in for the race. Rule may have been from the days when the 35's lapped the field? but the team (57) knew the rule was still in effect. Worst part of the whole thing is that I heard the boats still run the same with the weight installed.

audacity 05-21-2003 09:35 AM

BH....actually we broke a skeg right off and took part of the case with it....after that happened the boat went sideways like a jet ski causing everything to be torn off...ugly!....we should have the video clip soon to show!!! we learned a lot so it was not a total loss...just part of racing...i could do with out the bailing part though!!!!LOL

actually lute thought he could remove the weight after they added some 380 lbs to the front of the boat...they were still over weight after the race...they we NOT trying to pull a fast one by any means.

both lets play and 57 ran one hell of a race!!!

we look forward to the savannah race!!!

Pete B 05-21-2003 10:03 AM

Hey Joey,
Glad you guys were alright, do you have any pics of the transom to post.

audacity 05-21-2003 11:27 AM

Joey:

I happy to hear that you and Phil are OK. Did you get knocked around much?

The rumor mill said the boat took on some water -- hope it didn't get into the engines! (but the rumor mill also said my canopy was torn off)

Give some details when you get a chance.

audacity 05-21-2003 11:46 AM

o yeah...water coming in from both gimbals...phil was one bail'n SOB with a 6 gal pail...i was pump'n like a mad man and 3 pumps running....the water only got up to the bottom of the engines and was totally out by the time we got to the canes...but the engines still have to come out due to the wasted transom assemblies.
