Production end, TRS
When did Merc end the production of TRS drives? I thought the Bravo was to take it's place in '88 or '89. I ask this because I am looking at early 90's cig's and I see some top guns up to '94 with TRS. Did Cig just have a surplus of them?
Is there any distinction between the hulls of a TRS boat to a Bravo boat and how do you tell the difference in a TG or cafe. My assumption would be just placement of the fuel tanks. |

Hey Boot, your pretty swift :D
OK how about some real answers ;) |
This question was raised on the Cig forum a while back. IIRC, Merc paired the TRS drives with their higher horsepower offerings until they felt the Bravo could handle it (or they decided that the increased profits from the Bravo over the TRS justified it... heard both versions).
Moving from a TRS to Bravo changed the center of gravity on the boat, requiring some changes in the bottom? to the weight distribution? Can't remember which... which is why some early Cigs with Bravos tend to porpoise a bit. I'm going from memory on this, so take it with a grain of salt. |
