Still looking for a project...but this one appears to be overpriced already...

Smitty 05-27-2003 08:39 AM

I would classify that as more than a "PROJECT" WOW !!! It doesn't even have stringers left in it !!!!

Wardey 05-27-2003 08:55 AM

I'd have to pass on that one......Wardey

Hmmmm.... you could get one for 89 thousand dollars?!?!? Must be all the R+D that went into the hybrid alpha bravo drive....

Sorry, just a pet peeve - if you can't communicate clearly, in English, please get someone else to write your item description.

Sean 05-27-2003 09:52 AM

yeah, this is the second go around for it...last time the reserve was 2800...

I was the high bidder last time at 1000...and the guy wouln'd budge, said he was going to restore it himself and sell it...

just wondering what you guys thought...

dhlaw 05-27-2003 10:22 AM

Let him restore it and sell it himself.....................

TEAMBAJA 05-27-2003 10:28 AM

Looks like a major headache to me.......

riskybusiness 05-27-2003 10:58 AM

As far as projects go, that is EXACTLY the condition I would prefer to acquire one, as it is at the starting point to which I would bring it (old wooden stringers and transoms frequently need replacement anyway, so he just saved you from having to cut them out yourself).

All you'd have to do now (structurally, anyway), is gut the transom wood, prep (read: grind) all the glass, and glass in new framework.

I personally wouldn't, however, give him (much) more than $1,000 for it.

Sean 05-27-2003 12:44 PM

risky,

I couldn't agree with you more...but the boat has to be bought at the right price...and 2800 ain't the right price...

:) :) :)

BLee 05-27-2003 01:39 PM

The only thing "Cigarette" about that boat is the decal. It needs too much to mess with. You can find a 20 foot Cigarette that RUNS for far less than it would take to do that project correctly.:)

Jeff 05-27-2003 02:51 PM

Have you guys ever taken an old boat to the dump and watch the huge bulldozers run over it? I would get more enjoyment out of that than fixing it. And we have taken better ones to the dump with a Volvo drive and motor than this thing. seriously. Even if a turd says Cigarette on it, it's still a turd.:D

NASTY HABIT 05-27-2003 03:26 PM

I know of a pretty nice 20' ciggy...and motivated owner;)

Sean 05-27-2003 03:32 PM

yeah...me too...it's too bad i don't have the scratch for that one...

:D :D :D

Gary C 05-27-2003 05:13 PM

Sean, Sean, Sean, you don't need another project! You need to get the one you have put together and running:) I'm keeping an eye on you! Plus, don't you have a hydro hoist to put together and put in the water? :):)

Sean 05-27-2003 10:52 PM

i guess i'm just a glutton for punishment...

anyone need a hydrohoist???

:D :D :D

Sean, let me know about the hydra-hoist. We have a house in Haysville North Carolina on lake Shatuge. This would be something that will work for me. The ones I've seen here in Fl. are mostly junk or they are more expensive than a lift. Want to put 302 Scarab w/ob's on it. We own a Kenworth with a low boy to possibly come get it. JD

Sean 05-29-2003 04:21 PM

Jeff,

I'll keep you in mind for the hoist...I don't know if it is large enough for my boat so we'll have to see.

Well, it seems that some brave soul bid 2500 for the Cig on Ebay and got it...frankly, I think that's steep, so I wish the chap best of luck...

So...my search continues...an I need all of your help fellers...keep your eyes open in the back woods and marina bone piles for me...for a 20' Cigarette needing a new home.

32storm 05-29-2003 08:38 PM

Even a grand may be steep for what's there. Someone must really want a 20 with a lot of time and $'s on their hands. That sucking sound you hear will be your wallet on this pile of glass.
