Madcow, it is a Switzer "Shooting Star"

The Shooting Star was their outboard ski/race boat from the 50's and 60's. With 200hp you can get 100+mph out of one.

The bottom is sort of a Hickman "Sea Sled" type .... open at the front and flat at the back. Compared to a Carlson semi tunnel, I'd say it is more round like a catamran........less square sponson shape like a hydro or modern tunnel hull.

This one is fiberglass, earlier were wood (with a different bottom) and looked like the Batmobile (dual canopy windshields and big fins) long before Batman ever put his butt in the black Sunbeam Tiger.

Duh, who else is old enough to remember him driving the Sunbeam?

Sold one wood "Star" and three glass ones like that one when I was a Switzer dealer. Ran mine with a 1250 BP and the speedmaster conversion. Great fun lake boat on a calm day when there was no other traffic but didn't like to turn very well. Could get REAL out of shape over 80 if a wake or a wind gust snuck (sneaked?) up on you. Wouldn't mind another ride today, however. 200 H.P. on one though!?! WOW!! I could sure believe over 100 mph but I don't think I'd want to be the pilot and I KNOW I wouldn't be a rider! Later --- Jer
