Hey, I watched the Lady L sink while coming into the Merrimack River, Newbury Port, Mass 1990 US Offshore race.

They were heading in AFTER the race ended :eek: :eek: :eek:

There was some nasty water :eek:

If you go on www.NJPPC.com and go to their "Offshore Library" they have broshures from classic boat companies. If you can't find it, I have literature from the late 70's, and could fax it to you. I can't post it though, I'm computer illiterate.

another one was the all red EMPTY POCKETS it seperated hull and deck in key west racing. the hull ended up in hyannis mass. the guy there had the 24' brt mold /27 signiture mold / and the 38' signiture mold. his name is mike becall. he is from that area but haven't seen him in years. fyi.

thanks mrv8, were you at the offshore races last year? we stayed in harwichport with 3 boats but by race time on sunday the seas were so big(6-8 footers...) I was the only one to go over to the race course...maybe you saw us all rafted up at the end of the bass river saturday late afternoon by the cranes. too bad theyre not coming back this year.

Some more Signature history for what it's worth. There was a 32' red Sig. Named Red Ryder that Larry Goldman maintained for a customer at Turnberry Isle. Larry drove it in 2 episodes of Miami Vice, 'the Great McCarthy' (boat race) episode and at night driving drugs to the beach in the 'Bushido' episode.

Pantera had the 38 Sig. mold for a while, he pulled at least one race boat. Rob Asner in Ocean City, MD sold that boat in Fall to someone on the board.

Another 32'Signature, Ran very fast in all water conditions.

And recovered from this incident to race again.

Is Johnny B. your uncle?
Johnny ran a race with the late Jeff Galiente and I out of Greenwich Ct. inthe 70s, we had a great time.
Johnny would run hard.
We all hung out together in Toms River in the 70s.

Yeah, Johnny B is my uncle! It was him racing that got me hooked on these boats as a child. From some of the stories he has told, most of the racers during that time period ran very hard in a lot of crazy sea conditions.

It's nice knowing that there are some folks on the board from the glory day's of offshore racing.

Great comments on Signature.....I'm working with a friend of mine on a 38 Signature that he bought new in 1990. I don't know too many people with more tme in a 38 than this guy. He's completely rebuilt the boat and modified the cockpit to have more room. I think the 38's were set up for triples or staggered. Here's a couple of shots.

We haven't finished the hatch yet and are still dialing it in.
