I BET EVERYONE WAS SORE AFTER THE EVENT!
|
DID KURT RUN IN THE RACE? PERFECT WATER FOR HIS 42 CUV!
|
Darren, Kurt sold the CUV over the winter. He raced in the Bad Boy boat with Tony.
|
Even with the horrible conditions, the race went off like a clock work. The OPA and NJOPRA should be commended for a job well done. The volunteers; particularly the pace, sweep and checkpoint boat owners deserve alot of thanks for braving the conditions to help with the event and providing the best seats in the house!Good show by ALL the teams; and most importantly a safe race.Looking forward to more boats and better weather for Seaside.

Someone told me it was scrapped? The boat had alot of time on it and the rivets will only hold for so long. Worth a good penny when on a scale when the Aluminum value is up. :D :D :D
Does anyone know the true whereabouts? |
Tony from Bad Boy has it along with the old Arasaki hull which he turned into a pleasure boat. Not sure of his plans for the CUV, but I'm almost positive it won't be racing again.

Ron, great write up as usual...Plenty of people watching from the beach(until the rain got reeel bad) and from jenks. I was at martells on the pier, which is a bit closer to the action. Relentless had a bunch of people there too, including the girl that kept politely moving so i could snap a pic or 2. Turns out i even knew the bartender, so it was a good day all around.
I missed kurts cuv too. that thing used to eat up the water off pt pleasant. Wild card seemed to rule the air yesterday, and Firewater ruled the water, that apache was moving. Were any other board members at martells at the pier? One thing i noticed is that the race didnt seem to get a whole lot of publicity. Im a local, and if it werent for this board (or my interest in race boats) i wouldnt have known the race was going on. I stopped by my dad's house. He just retired as the chief of police in pt pleasant beach, and has a pretty good handle on the local goings on, and he had no idea that there was a race. There was a nice write up in todays asbury park press tho. http://www.app.com/app2001/story/0,21133,745437,00.html I'm not being overly critical, id just love to see more people at the races. Good job by all. Great racing. Big water. Weather? maybe next time....Id post my pics, but the ones at NJ sports pics are much better. |
Thanks, we actually had articles in the Press on Friday and Sat and now today. Also some of the local rags are printing my emails. Plus 100.1 had pre race ads and live race coverage.
In August when the race is sponsored by Jenks, you should here it advertised on WJLK. For a small turn out, everyone had a great time. |
Aha, i didnt read the press on fri\sat.....i get it delivered and by time i woke up the rain had saturated the thing into one big blob of grey newsprint. I'm sure the jenks race will be promoted quite a bit, frank and anthony have the $$ for some ads....

How many people were there to watch the race? You know no one else was at the beach for any other reason other than to watch the Boyz.

Bruce, I was wondering how you guys won after losing the steering....I heard all the chatter on my handheld when the towboat was getting over to you guys! Looks like Typhoon was the only one that broke DURING the race. Congrats on the win......
Ron, the one good thing about the crappy weather, is that you were sure everyone that did show was there for the race. Tough to tell on a nice day who came for the race and who came for the beach in general. I'm glad the OPA is able to bring so much racing to jersey. |

Ryan, Robert.......I don't give a damn what you call the WILD CARD boat.....I will tell you they are Fu$%&ng NUTS. We had a GREAT race going with Willie and Larry of Wild Card along with John Cohen and his son of Superboat and Mad Dog and Hollywood of Typhoon..........Typhoon broke,we took the lead on turn 3 of the last lap after the Kill switches came OFF on the third lap we caught up to them on the last lap and the damn things came off again....all part of racing!!!!!!I have a very deep RESPECT for all the racers from yesterday's race but more so for Wild Card and Superboat.....Bert and I were 12 feet out of the water at the nose and as I passed each one of them when we jumped out and they were right along side us up as high as we were. GREAT RACING GUY"S!!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards to all...Augie"Godfather" Pensa

Originally posted by Ron P The photos are already posted at www.njsportpics.com. Wait till you see these shots. Only 14 boats. I guess most got scared away by the weather reports. Hell, we raced in the rain most of the day. And it went like this. |
Race boats never register until the day before the race, I can only say that many more boats were slated to attend. Hopefully we'll see them show in Seaside with better weather.

Hey Shane, THANKS..........Wildest ride I've ever been on and I did two races with Smitty and Sticks and they are nuts. Not too many people thought my "OCEANLINER" could get outta the water that high, not even me! Will be great to see you Saturday. Regards Augie.

everyone had fun!

Is Kurt doing anything with the old A-1 Doices are Wild boat? Where is that project going?
|
Darren, Kurt is working on getting the DRY MARTINI ready for the Seaside Race as well as taking care of The Delicate Sound Of Thunder for me. Tony P and Kurt are still going nuts on the Bad Boy boat which ran really well Sunday staying "IN" the water.
