NYC Poker Run Spectators Get Together.
 

I don't Know if anyone has posted on organizing a get together the morning of the run. I haven't been on the board much lately.

I was wondering how many people want to meet up and run together to just a few miles south of the tapanzee bridge and watch the run.

we did this last year but we lost a few people on the way. A few of them went into the city and caught up with us later.

What I was thinking is meet up at the Bear Mt Bridge at 10:00 and head south from there. We would drop anchor just south of the bridge. Once this short poker run is over in about a 1-1/2 hours I was thinking of heading back up to newburg and get a bite to eat and look in the air for any cool plains flying over from the near by air show at Stewart Air Force Base. The Blue Angles are going to be there. I"ll bet that they will use the river and the bridge as a visual flight reference to the airport. so more than likely there will be some cool plane over the river.

There is plenty of docking in the newburg area. along with nice veriety of fine dining ,clubs & bars.

26 sonic and sonic 99 will be there and i'm sure "vertical limits " will be there !

Excavator and his son mini me will be there in his 38 formula and Johny venomous and i will be running together.

As long as the weather is nice:rolleyes: We will be coming out of liberty state park heading north to the Tappen Zee. Do you guys anchor on the west side of the channel? Are you north or south of the bridge?

Look for my Formula 303 with palm beach "Z" graphics, boat name TENACIOUS on the stern. Raft up and we'll watch the boats fly by. Should we use the VHF radio for contact on channel 78a?

Excavator: I want to see your 38 Formula!!! Sounds nice!

Your right about that We never go to weddings. Best weekends of the summer and people end up divorced two years later...I've been to five in my whole life two freinds and three siblings. Mine was at the boathouse in Burlington whoever wanted to come was welcome after we told them in phone calls and cost $36 bucks. Most stopped by boat or bikes in shorts and t-shirts for the 5 min ceremony and were on their merry way after that. Why ruin a nice weekend not enough of those in the North East!!!

GL you might be the title holder for the fastest courtship on the board.

Toolman. last season we were a few miles south of the bridge and on the west side. most of us didn't get together until the boats started heading south from 2nd card stop. some people were out running about with there boats for a while.

Dave the best place to launch is at the newburg ramp at Gullies . It's a free ramp with parking. Its 10 minutes from the I 87 off exit 17 or maybe 18........ its late and I cant think straight, if you need direction please tell me. its east to find. This is also the area where most of us hang out and where we will probably end up after the run to get lunch and hope to see some cool plains in the air. Lets just hope for some great weather. we need it .

Well.... I am still working on the house-almost 3 years now, but that is another story. I did take some time out today to work on the boat. I somehow managed to misplace the battery and the flame arrester. I hope to find them and start it up tomorrow. If no problems arise I would like to test it out some afternoon late in the week-just to make sure it is up to the beating it will get on Saturday. How is your project coming along? I read a post of yours stating that the top 1/2 of your engine was apart, I hope it is nothing serious. If you are going to test it out some afternoon before Saturday let me know. I hope that you can make the run with us. Take I87 south to exit 17 (Newburgh). Follow the signs after the toll to I84 (first right). Take I84 east to exit 10 (last exit before toll/bridge). At the bottom of the ramp turn right on to 9W south, then make the first left on to North Street (approx. 200') North Street runs into Marine Drive and the launch ramp is approx. 1 1/2 miles on the left, right next to Gully's bar/restaurant.

Is anyone leaving from there ? If so what time are you leaving.I have been down that way but I don't no where anything is.Do you guys no where we could dock overnight down there ?

I will be launching from Newburgh, Paul and a few others launched there last year also. I will be there around 9:00am. As far as overnight accommodations go I am not too sure. Paul might have some information on that. Quite a few new docks went in over the last year.
