Skaterfest......The thank you's

On behalf of Doug and Leeanne Lewis let me thank all of the following people (in no particular order) for their participation in our soggy effort:

1. Pat Patel and Kristen Scibetta..... for the moral support and party antics.

2. Dave Patnaude and NJPPC for all of your support and effort.

3. Dennis Cavanaugh of Mercury Marine for waiting in the rain for two years in a row...and for your kind comments.

4. Dick O'Dea for making the event a special reunion...and Shane Maheu for pulling you out in the daylight.

5. Danny, Dale and "Stretch" for working around the clock for days in preparation for the event.

6. Bud and Gail Tresh, Gary and Karen Bicker, and all the other Skater owners for the use of your beautiful boats.

7. Freeze Frame video...for many of the tapes played at the event.

8. DarrenUS1 for creating a video montage for the "What Happened" Safety and driving tips session....You'll always be my hero, buddy.

9. George and Ilse Linder who are "family".

10. Typhoon Marine for the use of your beautiful 36 Nortech Cat.

11. 24/7 Graphics ....whose trim and finish talents are unbelievable.

12. Rolf Papke and Pro-Roc Marine for bringing not one, but two, beautiful Spectre's to the event...and for being a standup guy when it counted most.

13. Philip and Kim for fighting through many issues to attend on Sunday...and brought cookies as well.

14. All of the attendees who braved inclement weather, long distances, and the absence of some "celebrity's"..while maintaining a positive, supportive attitude.

15. Tim Sharkey, who made it all worthwhile....he cleaned, he launched, he took photos, he smiled, and he gave up a lot of time without complaint nor expectation...... And his family endured it right along with him.

16. The Boardwalk Restaurant for putting on what became one of the best party's I've ever attended.

17. Anybody else that I may have forgotten.

For those of you who couldn't make it......we understand completely.... God gave us almost 2 inches of rain...and in his generosity torpedo'd many of the "best laid plans".

Thanks to all.

Thanks for making us feel welcome!!!

Thank you all for organizing such an informative and interesting event. This is Chris ( AIR FORCED 28) FROM 24-7 INNOVATIONS.
My girlfriend and I had no idea what to expect on the way down to Jersey. On the way home we were sooooo happy we went. We hope to see some of the fine people we met there at some of the upcoming poker runs. The time and effort people spent answering my questions was so greatly appreciated. The videos and safety meeting were a reality check that show how serious these boats can be. Before I get back to work I want to thank the following..... Rich Luhrs for all the time spent with me and the boat , all the cool boat owners that shared there stories with us , all who helped get the boat in and out and saved the Jersey residents from Heather and my trailer!, Dennis for intelligent prop talk, Bud for showing me what a really cool Skater looks like (maybe someday, lol). Finally ... Mike (21 Skater), Chris , other Chris, Tim Sharkey, Dave , Rolf , and everyone who had kind words, complements, and now a new found love for Carbon Fiber!
Look forward to next years Skater fest and seeing you all again!
Chris and Heather

A Huge Thanks To All For Skaterfest !!

I just wanted to say thanks for all those that were there . From the people that provided the place , the organizers, the boat builders , designers, racers, the prop man from mercury, the engine builders, the people that brought their boats to show and to give rides , and everyone for just showing up from all over to make it a great weekend !

Saturdays heavy rain realy WOULD have been bad if we didn't get to listen to a great presentation of boat designs and theories, and MOSTLY SAFETEY ! Also want to thank darren for putting together the best colection of video on what can (and does), go wrong if you push your boat too far, and to those who took the time to show us ,and explain why every wreck in the video happened , and how it COULD have been avoided ! BIg egoes and the drive to win can kill in an instant ......... Please consider those seated next to you and driving around you the next time your pushing that throttle .......

Lucky for us the sun came out in full force sunday ,and the boats ROCKED THE BAY !!! :D I don't know if it's sunburn or wind burn from that awsome ride in "ON THE PROWL" (36 cat with 1000hp fuel injected motors and one of the most beautiful boats on the water ! ) I think it's safe to say we were the fastest boat around that day . Thanks to Dougs professional throttle arm , I felt safe well beyond the "century" mark !! I was also impressed at those motors Doug built and how user friendly they ran ! With digital tachs we idled the no wake zone for miles , with one motor on 910 rpms and the other on 920 rpm's and they never changed all the way through !! Not too bad for monster 1000's ! Great job on the setup Doug !

And can't forget the great party at the board walk grill ! Good food and good times !

NOt sure how this happened but 2 of us Jersey boys got shown around our own town later that night by some fellas from ST. Louis and and a guy from Texas !! The details of said night could not be discussed here .......... SO thanks guys for driving 1500 miles to show US what our own town had to offer !

It's not realy about skaters , It's about great people that love boating in all ways wanting to have fun , and learn about boating and boat safety ! antiques, drag boats , 34' silvertons (John), little inflatables etc. If it floats it's a boat and your at home at Skaterfest !

Too bad so many of you missed coming due to fears of rain . There is never a lack of a good time at Skater Fest !

JOE

Thank you for the kind comments Joe...... but the boat you were in is called "On The Prowl"......not "Endangered Species"...... and the owner, Bud Tresh, is a "Treshure";)
