Default Fuel Mileage

By the way, this car has overdrive and the guy says he gets about 26-28 MPG on the freeway. Said he swears to it. What do you think and what MPG have you heard with this car?
I drove my Dad's Buick to Florida and back. It has a 3.1L, and I think I averaged 26 - 27 MPG for the trip. This was with the car heavily loaded down (my wife knows how to put the "lug" into luggage ), cruise set at 80 most of the way. I am pretty sure the Olds 3.1 and the Buick 3.1 are the same - GM went to the "corporate" platform on engines and chassis in the mid eighties, I think.

Seemed like a decent running car, but the 3.1 was a bit overworked in the Regal sled. My current disposable hooptie is an '88 cutlass with the 3.8L. Much stronger engine, but the gas mileage is not as good.
