Merc #3 vs BMAX

Looking for some advise, Thinking of putting twin 725's on a 4300 NORTECH, I know if I use the #3 it has a tranny which robs HP, but is it more reliable than the BMAX. Thanks Jeff

2nd Q's. Would this boat W/Triple 525's and xr's last, Im concerned on the drive issue, Thanks Jeff

LEOPAJM 06-12-2003 06:55 AM

Jassman 06-12-2003 07:11 AM

Lucy, which drives other than #6's are available, thanks.

open87 06-12-2003 07:18 AM

SLINGSHOT 06-12-2003 07:38 AM

bravo's suck no matter where they come from especially on a big boat

1 Attachment(s)
3A replaced the 3. parts are running low for 3. 5s are available.
my 41 800sc with 3a 95 mph.

The speedmasters will have a much beefier gimble than the bravo

Jassman 06-12-2003 09:41 AM

Thanks Lucy, looks great and hauls a**not bad for twinns:D What is the price difference between #5 vs #6 and how much less power can the #5 handle.

LEOPAJM 06-12-2003 10:29 AM

Jeff ... the price and weight diff. from #5 to #6 is substantial ... the #5 is good on a big boat (43) twin application to 800-900 HP no problem... may get alittle hairy after that. That being said ... If this is a situation where you can afford to go either way ... you won't regret going with the #6 (resale ect...) If this is a new boat ,your writing some BIG checks anyway.... DONT scimp on the driveline !!!!!

Jeff, in order my choices would be (assuming you don't go with #6s):

-Merc #5
-Arneson
-Weissman
-Sage
-Pulse Drives
-Merc #3
-BMAX
-Buzzi
-IMCO 4x4

Those would be my suggestions.

open87 06-12-2003 11:01 AM

i rode in seans cougar when i was in palm coast a few weeks back, that had "SUPERBIG" ke power with #5's.#5's would be less than #6's. i agree with lucy, 3a's would work fine ,and would leave $$$ for juice:D

joe900sc 06-12-2003 12:13 PM

How many blown bravos, imco's, or B-max's does it take to pay for 1 set of six's or 5's. And once your stuck with the bravo type configuration they keep blowing and blowing and blowing....

bobby daniels 06-12-2003 12:17 PM
