Default S-10's and blazers....

How good do these things tow? Any suggestions? Dont say Ford!! Would be the V6 4.3 with 2wd. 96-up. Blazer would be 4x4...Hopefully the Vortec Motor.

Hyper, I had an Astro van with the 4.3 and 373 gears under it and it pulled extremely well. It also had posi track. I pulled a 4200 lb boat loeaded.

Very nice trucks. Get a 4 door for towing, as the 2 door is a short wheel base to tow with. Definately get a 1996 or later with the 4.3 Vortec; it is a great motor; much better than prior.

I even had a 1989 that stayed in the family until 2001 when I traded it with 120K miles, 4.3, 4x4, 2-door. I pulled 5K lbs (23 Maxum cabin cruiser) with it once. It did not do well. but it will would pull 2-3K just fine.

Keep an eye on the cooling system. Water Pumps always go, and I had to replace the leaking heater core on mine, (TOTAL BlTCH of a job).

A 2wd pickup (or Blazer), will NOT do well for towing a boat. You will not have enough rear end weight to keep traction and pull up a wet ramp. You MUST get a 4x4 in this class of truck.

They actually pull pretty good. I used one to tow my 24' boat with. When I stepped up to the 26' cat, I was having problems though. Are you looking? I'm reluctantly considering the sale of my blazer. Drop me an e-mail if you're interested.

I recently pulled my 220 Force with a 97 4-Dr Blazer and an Extended Cab 4x4 S-10. Im not sure why, but the S-10 pulled it alot smoother.

Hyper, we have a 93 and 94 Blazer, and a 94 Bravada with Vortecs in them right now. They arent ready to sell yet, but they will be priced right. Just need cleaned up.
