My 4 saddle tanks were foamed into bays along side of the engines (full stagger). The bottom halves of the tanks are in foam, the upper halves exposed. It appears that the tanks separated somewhat from the foam, and then water stayed trapped in the crevices (crevice corrosion??).

I used a tree pruning blade to saw through the foam. I have to pull the engines this weekend to lift the tanks out, and still have to remove foam from the starboard rear tank. I will try using a pressure washer to slice through the foam, and will post the results.

I just had 4- 60 gallon saddle tanks fabricated locally and cost $400 each. Constructed from .125 thick 5052h32 aluminum.

I am going to coat the bottom halves with Gluvit waterproofing epoxy before foaming them back in. Gluvit dries somewhat flexible and should give me a reasonable degree of corrosion protection. I am also thinking of using a 2 part pourable catalyzed rubber sealer to seal the top of the foam.

If anyone knows a better way to do this, I would like to know!!!!!

Thanks
Bulldog aka Ronnie

1st stage complete

HotBoat, Pure Energy, HotBoat, myself and HotBoat worked on pulling the tank last night.
HotBoat is a mad man, you would have thought this boat cheated on him with his best friend on his wedding night in a past life or something. The boy had pure fire in his eye's and the fuel tank was on the recieving end. No doubt this guy aint takin anymore sh!t from a piece of floating fibergalss

We finally got it out at about 1:30am.
At about 8:30pm I had my doubts, by 10:00pm I knew it was going to be a long night, and by midnight I was wondering how I was going to talk HotBoat out of taking it out through the bottom of the boat........I think Pure Energy might have even gone with that option .

Ill post some pics later in the day.
