McCormicks Steak seasoning line is great!!! Ever try the mesquite or the Southwest?

I usually just use Italian dressing w/ filets, but for the strips it's McCormicks all the way!!!

Old memories here. Bham,Al early 60's,Dales Cellar (sp) was the premier steak house, it was downstairs in a celler, best steaks on the planet, that's where the sauce came from. Dale is probrably dead now but his product lives on. It is really mostly soy sauce, worchestire and salt but it's cheap and works well.We buy a local brand, Moore's Marinade, same thing, but I still like Dale's cause I took my first wife to Dale's Celler on our first date. This post will destuct in 60 seconds,LOL. :)

Being from AL I knew you would know what I was talking about. Man chicken thighs and dale's - yee hawwww - the Jerzey Boyz have to be laughing at us - lol - BH

Hey Magic.....ever eat at OLLIES BBQ there in B-ham ? My Pop took me ther emany times...their Pork BBQ suace is awsome...

Magicfloat 06-16-2003 09:40 PM

Ate there many times in the old days. Unfortunately it closed last year after maybe 50 years. The older family members died and the younger ones had other things to do. Interesting history,Ollie McClung was a nice guy who employeed mostly blacks and treated them like family and paid them well but didn't want blacks served there. He wasn't a racist, this was just Alabama in the old days. He mellowed a lot as time passed and his son took over the business and then the grandson. In the later years it didn't matter what color you were, you were welcome at Ollie's,times change. His employees received good retirement benefits when the place closed, and you are right, great pig pork BBQ,wish I had one now.

OBNOXUS21 06-16-2003 10:10 PM

So I went ahead and grilled a filet :D :D :D

hmmmm.......bacon wrapped

NASTY HABIT 06-17-2003 05:09 AM

Dang.....Ollies closed....no more sauce??????I have some good memories of B-ham as a kid...most of my family was from there. No more sauce :( How about "Joy Youngs "? or the "hole in the wall"

Magicfloat 06-17-2003 06:50 AM

Both long gone.

CigDaze 06-17-2003 07:21 AM

Brian,
I don't make anything Beef without it...Dale's is the Chit!!! A buddy of mine from Alabama got me hooked on it...It's a Redneck Delicacy!! :D:D:D

If you like Mushrooms with your Steak, Simmer the Shroom's with chopped Red Onion in a saucepan with about 1 part Dale's and 2 parts water for about 1/2 hour and then drain. Awesome!

florida gator 06-17-2003 07:53 AM

Dales is good. I bought " Butt Rub" from the St Pete Pier one day and it is awesome if you like a little kick.

You should be able to find it at Big Lots....I have yet to see it at any of the major Grocery stores. I usually buy it from a small, local specialty grocer.

NASTY HABIT 06-17-2003 09:28 AM

The Chief says she gets it at Publix or Winn-Dixie...she actually mailed some to my mom a couple weeks ago in Cali...MOM knows best....damn I'm hungry

Dave M 06-17-2003 01:28 PM

I just picked up some at Food Lion. I will try it out this weekend.

Any other lawyers remember this case??? It is all of the con law books. "The Ollies BBQ case" went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of serving persons of color. Ollie lost. Don't ask me what the grounds were -- I just remember my professor thinking it was appropriate for Congress to legislate on these things, because the BBQ joint affected interstate commerce.

Magicfloat 06-17-2003 02:11 PM

I think Hanna Motoer Co was owned by the founder of Hanna Steel, his son Pete just took delivery of a new 353 last week. Is this a test? :):):)

NASTY HABIT 06-17-2003 02:17 PM

The Hanna Motor Company I know of was founded by my G-father...a Ford dealer . I think it may still be in exsitence as a fund or market type company...I cannot recall..no test....just crap I haven't thought about in a long time...

you mean my cousin may have a new 353 and didn't tell me...bastid!:D
