48 Scarab

I went out today with Larry Smith, Dan and Alishia Macnamera (Team Archer Marine) for the start of the Catalina ski race. Test #5 for the boat. 100 gallons of diesel and we were off.
The boat has twin 480 hp Cummins diesels 1 to 1 ZF boxes and Tri-max drives and rudders.
It is a great ride.
We went half way to Catalina turned back for a pit stop. Dan fixed it I had breakfast with Larry. At 11 we went out again 30 min later we were on Avalon. Had lunch took some speed shots of the boat with the help of Jimmy in another Scarab . 30 min later back in Huntington Harbor. Dropped of Dans wife and Larry.
Went out at 3 pm to go to Marina Del Rey. 6-8 foot occasional 15 Very happy to have 48 ft. at the point, flying down the troughs in front of LAX to mdr harbor 4pm.
Topped off the tanks 72 gallons.
At idle it burns .8 to 1.1 gallons per hour at full throttle 14.8 gal per hour. Cruse at 2050 rpm and 53 mph. 70 mph at 2600 rpm.
More to come with tweaking. Props and trim settings.
Thanks Dan and Larry.

Shifter-

Tell Larry Smith thanks for the pictures he sent me. I have Kaama #2 which Betty Cook ran for a few years, then sold to Ron Hirshberg. Tell Dan McNamara I said Hi, too- I spoke to him about a year ago about Kaama, etc.

Good Luck
Bulldog aka Ronnie
