Re-installing fuel tank, what foam should I use?
Will "great stuff" in a can work or should I use the 2 part stuff?
Thanks |
Use the 2 part stuff that is LOW expansion, or just pour a little in at a time. For true coast guard aproval you need to use the correct stuff. Good luck.

Any fiberglass supply house will offer one gallon cans of two part foam available in two pound four pound etc density. Check www.glueproducts.com I am guessing around $50. Like audiofn mentioned, put in a bit at a time. The stuff rises like a cake, sands easily, and can even be fiberglassed over. Great Stuff will melt if you try to fiberglass over it.

Are you going to coat the tank with something before you foam it in? I am getting ready to put mine in and am going to use Gluvit from West Marine. It is a waterproofing epoxy that remains flexible. After I foam them in I am going to seal the top of the foam. AndyBuzz is right, use the 2 part stuff.
