Bilge Pumps
I have a pump problem right now that I worked on today with a friend. My float switch has stuck and runs all the time. It is separate from the pump but is not the standard flip up switch. It has a float and diode built-in. Anyway took it apart and had to cut the wires to disconnect power from it, now the other pump is running. For sure though what the problem is, but the only way to cut them off is to unhook the battery cable. If the battery switches would cut them off, and someone mistakeingly turns them to off, and your boat took on some water, well, you know the rest of the story. All bilge pumps should wire straight to the battery. Of course they will also have a manual switch on the dash
