This shot is two days old, not twenty years old.
I guess the newer hulls are balanced a little better. And yes those are the original drives. But she's been completely refurbished in and out. Now she runs in P3 class at OPA races. Maybe you'll even see her in Key West this year. |
The beautiful lines of a classic offshore racer! More pics?

balanced better? Look at the drives and tabs. But still an awesome shot of a classic looking race boat.

I'll be picking up a disk of chopper shots in a little while. I'll see what's there.
Think that shot deserves the cover of Extreme boats mag? One of out diver paramedics took the shot. Thanks Glen. |

I remember seeing this boat race in the 1970's by Dr. Carlo Bonomi. I believe this was the 2nd or 3rd 35' Cigarette out of the mold.
Its amazing to see the old war-horse still out there! If the races were run for 200 miles in "real" offshore conditions, it still would be competitive. Its ashame there aren't any of these long & offshore races left. The 35' Cigarette made the 36' Cigarettes obsolete with the narrower beam (the 36' Ciagarette had a 9'6" beam) It was the boat to have in the 70's. "Spirit", "Bounty Hunter", "Powerboat Magazine" and of course "Benihanna", were all 35 Cigs. Love those classics!: Ron, One more "issue", that boat is 30 years old, not twenty.:D Definately "Cover Material" |
