I'd go with Twin SBC. Sigle you get too much prop torque and chine walk.

twin sbc, always make it home, docking is an ease, replacing broken parts is cheaper, sb outlast bb between rebiulds, etc...

Anyone out there with these set ups figure out how much it costs them a season to run, including everything.

How much fuel are twin small blocks going to burn com paired to a 540 cubic inch 650 hp big block at cruising speeds. Lets say between 3000-4000 RPM.

A friend of mine has twin BBC 454 procharged. I have single 540 procharged. One weekend we both were on lake & ran around lake aprox. same speed & distance. I used 1 less gallon of gas then he did when we filled up

Mant times I have deliberated this exact question with clients. One of the largest concerns was always speed, I believe the twin small block boat will win this one.
Then theres always price to consider, twin 350/mag/bravo 30K
twin 300 pro max/bracket 40K
single 650 anything/bravo 40k
How about safety ? with twins you know you can most likely get home!
Then handling, the twin will be better controled and more comfortable to drive."either outboard or sterndrive"
You would think the twin would require more maintanance, however; the single will work its nads off.
Any of them would require hydraulic steering because they will be running in the 75-80 mph range.
Fuel consumption will be best with any EFI motor, all three should burn close to 30 gallons per hour on average.
Which one fits your boating lifestyle depends on geography, people capacity, and style.
Oh, of course you dont want garbage craft at those speeds!:D

I like the single application in the Pantera 28, It is a different boat with twins.

I would think that 2 stock engines would require less TLC than one specialized engine. If you were comparing 2 stock to 1 larger stock, then that may not be the case. But, I have never owned a race engine so this is just an outside opinion.

KN the weight with twins is heavier in the tail and flight is very level with the single. Jo will redistribute weight on the twin usually with gas tank location and size. If you boat with alot of people 4 adults you'll like the twins.
The 28 Pantera sport with out boards give you a huge cockpit, There is one call Zeplin in Ft Lauderdale, with 225s.
