Old boat: 1984 Excalibur gets pulled by:

Old Truck: 1989 GMC Crew Cab
7.4 TBI and a Turbo 400 trans with a 4.10 rear and no overdrive.
8.0 MPG with the boat, 8.5 MPG without
(hardly gets driven without towing something)
Less than 100K miles and never driven in snow.
And:
NO PAYMENTS

97 F250 P/S 4WD 355 rear end = excellent mpg- 22 w/o boat, 17.5 w/boat.

Tows my 27' Formula w/steel trailer great! 27' (approx 8k lbs) is probably max with this gear ratio. Anything bigger and would probably want a lower gear. Although I did pull a friends 29 Fountain with no problems.

1999 Chevy Suburban 3/4 Ton 4x4 and it pulls around my Magic 29.9 Wizzard.

Does the job just fine and no payments on either toy.
