I was there at Sunrise Ridge and watched them all come up the lake from Toad Cove. Didn't ask about any of the winners, but I saw more Cats than you probably ever will down there, except for the Shoot-Out ;)

I'll resize a few pics I took of the packs coming towards us!!!

Last one. I was up in a condo across the chanel, so quality isn't that great. Still there were more and the thunder was awesome from my view!!!!!!!!

i think that the poker run went well, there was alot of big power there, thursday afternoon the skys cleared and the boats started coming in friday there was quite a few out on the water and friday afternoon the toad cove was filling up 2 46's skaters a couple 40's and 2-3 36's, black thunder was out in force with 16 of them. saturday the interesting stuff came in several mtis along with a 39 pleasure that was just plain beautiful the run was more like a harbor hop were you did not go from on card stop to another but you had 15 place and had to go to 5 of the stops, water patrol placed a 60mph speed limit but it still provided some exciting moments. all and all was a good time and hope that they are asked to come back
later

and no i didnt win (anything)

BLee 06-30-2003 08:48 PM

We had a blast. The speed limit was just a suggestion pretty much. We flew up to "Big Dicks" and hit all the places on the way back. We will be back for the shootout.

my take on the suggestion at the drivers meeting was a little different. as in they did not suggest you only go 60mph but said that was the speed limit for the event.

We were under the same impression. When we took off the cats took off so we stayed with them. I barely saw anyone at the start doin 60 especially on the way to Dicks.

KiloKat 07-01-2003 08:13 AM

All of the boats really looked nice at the Toad Friday night. Thought the start Saturday morning was equally impressive.

Von Bongo 07-01-2003 09:04 AM

I was working, but on my way home from the office I saw Big Yellow Cat's boat waiting to turn on to 54

OBNOXUS21 07-01-2003 12:18 PM

Saw his boat in PC Sat. and the 46 skater w/ what I believe was also a 40' skater tied up next to the Budweiser yacht in PC. The first Skater was driven by a solo driver??? What's going on with that? But the yacht had MANY beautiful women on board and I got one of there promotional T-shirts, so thanks!!!!!

KiloKat 07-01-2003 12:24 PM

The 40 is my new race/pleasure Bacardi Silver 03 boat and the 46 was Mark Wetterau's. Both are powered the same and can be driven solo or with throttleman/driver. As far the women, they were some BUD girls giving out promotional items. Glad to hear you got one of the T-shirts!

OBNOXUS21 07-01-2003 12:43 PM

Boat looks great. I figured that had to bo yours. I saw you on the yacht and you looked like you were enjoying yourself ;) :D

Also saw that boat Memorial get some major air between BWJ's and Topsider's area!!! Good stuff and always a pleasure to see you out running!!!!!!

Auggie Busch's boat looked GREAT. We tied up with him on Sunday for awhile in "Freedom." and a buddies 47 Fountain. He was a really nice guy.

KiloKat 07-01-2003 03:47 PM

O21 - You must have seen the major air stuff on Saturday afternoon. CR28/38 - Thanks for the comment. I told AB you guys were out in the 46. By the way, ask "Freedom" Jim to give me a call when he has a chance.

cigracer, im not sure if this is you or not,

I was alternating between the dig camera and binoculars and the light bulb went off, hey, hold the camera up to the binoculars and, well, believe it or not, it worked. I have some video also this way which is good because my dig camera does not zoom while in video mode. The camcorder is much better for these distances but it is hell transferring the data to the computer.

Quest for Speed 07-01-2003 10:00 PM

Not trying to sound like a complainer, but, if any of you have read my posts on the noise restrictions that are moving across the country you will know that I have been trying to get offshore boaters united to fight the restrictions with little success! Why is it that no one is complaining that there is a speed restriction for a poker run?

I know that I am not the only one that realizes that these are small, well planned steps to eliminate our boats on the water ways of America!

I am concerned for the future of our sport and for me it is only recreational time, what about you guys who make a living from these boats? If you are working on something, why no publicity?

Someone needs to let me know if maybe my thinking is along the same lines as trying to convince you there are little green men:et:  .

Please guys, let me know if I am nuts so I can get help:drool:

If I'm not off my rocker, could everyone PLEASE contact their local officials and let them know that there is a performance boating community and we want our voice heard!!!

Because complaining about a speed limit that sounds like it was not really enforced would only piss off the Water Patrol who issues the permit for the event. Thus, no events of this sort in the future.

KiloKat 07-02-2003 07:54 AM

QFS - I think all of us are concerned about noise restrictions but they are a reality. Performance boaters at LOA have fought this (and speed limit) legislation for years. As with most lobbying efforts, we achieved a compromise that we can live with and still enjoy boating. Keep in mind that there are some first class mufflers available today that really don't hurt performance.

Exactly. I've heard them say, "If you can afford that loud boat, then you can afford to muffle it."

It sucks, but it is a reality.
